22:42 Snowman Notch, people on the forums don't believe Dock is still on the team
22:43 Snowman Could you say it in here, so I can show it them?
22:45 Notch yeah, he's not involved any more :-(
22:45 Notch I should blog that
This sort of stuff happens all the time, and it's not confined to game development. I can't fault Notch at all.
I'm actually happy with the current art. I agree that some textures could be improved a little, but with only a 16x16 surface to work on there's not much room for improvement. Besides, it's not the textures that count, it's what you do with them.
I have full confidence in Notch to carry this out himself, but maybe if there are instances where some textures need replacing, maybe have a community contest?
The only other thing I was excited about from Dock was better animations. Namely elbows and knees, and context sensitive motions.
I'm really happy about this, Notch's art is so much better less anime-ness and more awesome-sauce-ness. I thought ranas looked weird and very unproportional. Notch will make better textures after the game is complete, it makes more sense to develope the game then get better graphics. :biggrin.gif: Good Luck Notch.

Successful troll is successful, then?
Yes, he was pretty successful. Mostly since this community is made of 12 year old kids who can't control themselves.

I really don't think there will be a new artist. Just him. In his blog he wrote:

However, I went from doing Minecraft on my own to suddenly having to wait for someone else before I could move on. We had repeated problems getting anything animated to load into the game, and eventually I decided to just go ahead on my own.
I also hope the models continue along the MD3 path. Looking at the mobs with the pixellated textures, when gunpowder, string, and fletchings were first implemented, I saw a lot of potential for customization.

Old news.
But still. Bravo for posting this.
I'm sure it'll be of value to some people.
It is? His last blog post, 4 days ago, said he's working on it...
Perhaps you should check a dictionary.

Voyager of the Seas WIP ~~~~~ Big Book of Alchemy ~ Crafting Tech Tree
goodbye ranas...
I would like that..
Quality of output = Skill * Effort
Perhaps you should get on the irc some more.
Notch said a few times there..
I liked Ranas and Beast Boys! D:
Anyway, as long as we're talking about the art, the glass block really needs a new texture.
Such a nice thing to say.
Anyways, I personally didn't like the art, but it wasn't bad either, just didn't suit my style.
But, It's probably for the best.
