It was a side effect of making it more compatible with some other popular browsers. I need IE7 support though, because if I'm at college it's hard for me to get access to anything but IE7. I can sometimes access Chrome, but only from one of the ICT Suites.
Because the speed IE7 is going down on the curve it will be gone in 20 weeks.
And I do not think very many people who play minecraft use IE at all, most people seem to be Chrome or Firefox users. And if they use IE they probably would use the latest version as Windows Update probably installed it when they weren't looking.
WOOHOO!
Proof that IE sucks:
WARNING CRASHES MOST IE 7 AND BELOW BROWSERS ---> : crashie.com
(can't say I didn't warn you).... (really, don't go there if you don't want to crash it)
Anyhow, I like progress, progress is good.

I don't want to act like a ***** but wouldn't it be more practical to make a basic website, put it online and only then try to perfect it? Everything in Minecraft is simple, there's no need for so much brainstorming over a website layout..

Exactly, especially when the only graphic design done in like 2 weeks is a banner...
I've updated the site online now, so you can see how far I am. There was far less work to do than you imagined.

You do realize that your hover effect is broken slightly in Chrome right?
I talked about that a few pages ago. It's a matter of how browsers render the padding. It could be fixed by using certain styles for each browser, chrome requires a margin-top of 1px to align properly. IE 7 and 8 require a margin-top of 2px I think.
Edit: Because IE6 is retarded, it somehow manages to render properly by ignoring the overlay image (32-bit PNG) when it should just show a white box...
Oh yay! The glory of web 2.0! Rounded corners! On an 8bit media site!
Oh, btw, I think the shine, or overlay, or whatever you want to call it, on the (what I assume to be) previews is kinda tacky.

To tell you the truth, you other design (http://pixelarmies.x10hosting.com/minecraft/) looked far more like it was trying to be a minecraft site, and not some generic web2.0 site on the net.
I don't really care whether it's a generic Web 2.0 site or specialised to look like Minecraft. It's a bloody site to download files, plain and simple. It doesn't really matter. It was just easier and faster for me to do it that way. If you want to do it your way, feel free.

It's really not that simple, seeing as there is logins, sections, and talk of community. Otherwise a board on the forum with links to filebeam would be just as easy.
It's a small problem of 1 pixel proportion.
Edit: Still, it's only 10% more than all IE usage measured.
USB flash drive with Firefox installed on it?
Why wouldn't you support IE7?
