To start off: We DID NOT unleash hacks on the community. Most people who would use hacks had them before WoM, so you can't blame us for being "the source of hacks". Hacks were already publicly available at multiple locations before WoM came around. Also, you aren't proving yourself not to hate our servers, you've even said this yourself:
ha, I would grief WoM
And also, I've talked to Notch, he's said we're doing what he wants with the game. The only downside, he said, was that a few people might use it for griefing, but again, the whole community got together in #drama, and we sorted out solutions. We did all of this in a calm and mature way. And also, how does it make Minecraft "easier"? It's a SANDBOX game. It's the equivalent of nocip on GMod, for Minecraft. The hacks just help people make their creations.
We've talked to the community several times and worked things out.
Hacks would appear soon or later, making it sooner and on a public scale it forces the game to add security to this type of stuffs making the game better in the future.
Also, if wom wanted, they could add a check before acessing the hack to see if they have a account on wom and distribuing only to griefers, making it public help the "good guys" also have acess to the hack to protect their own server.

Grow up.
Notice the ha. That was said as a joke / in light spirit.
Available in a back corner where you had to look for hours != here it is go have fun.
Notch said he hasn't formed an opinion yet because he hasn't seen the issue first-hand.
I said I'm not using the "easier" thing as an argument because there is no objective data.
Sorry I'm typing so concisely, I have other things to reply to all over the place.

That was never a coherent argument for releasing exploits without vender knowledge. The proper way to do it is to go through the proper channels. Period.

the fact that WoM has hacked clients freely distributed on their site is a total turnoff for me, just because having a hacked client ruins the whole feel of minecraft and because it hasn't been verified to be fair to the game by notch yet. i haven't used the hack since it's been out and i'm doing perfectly fine without it. another thing i don't like about WoM is the whole admin system. there should only be 2 classes of users, OPs, and admins (not trusted users, pro users, 1337 users, lower admins, etc. etc.). although they do have many flaws, i think the scripting they have implemented into their servers is brilliant.
How about WoM just releases a code that when applied to a server stops their hacks from working? It would have to be coded into the client (Install it, then let it sit for several versions before giving out the code to server owners).
Once Notch implements hack prevention in creative mode, all this will be moot. We’re really only arguing over what will happen for the next few weeks. As of now, the hack client is so freely distributed that it would not make a difference if the World of Minecraft guys take it down or not.
Though I would like to think I am unbiased, I want to say that I remember minecraft being more fun before anyone could fly. My ideal solution would be no hacks for anyone.
Should I throw in my 2 cents?
Well back when the forums were down(looks at criticsquid) I needed a sort of new "home" So I joined random servers until I found WoM. It was a nice server, I liked the class system(with only guest, member, and op) and soon I became a member. Of course the map was getting full, and it was reset. And on the 2nd one I built what I think was my greatest project yet, G-Corp. Yet the map reset again before I could finish, and it was only half full. So after the reset I was drawn away from it. And a day later the forums came back, and I never looked back at it till now.
So my opinion on it?
The first 2 weeks of it were the best, then it went downhill real fast.
Personally, I think hacks are terrible (in both coding and the selfish way they are used to promote WOM). But you probably have a better chance of killing every fly on earth than eradicating hacks. The Client is simple code, a quick mod on an already existing hack client. The code is literally available to anybody. Any idiot who can download it can re-host it. Fileupyours and Rapidshare aren't exactly rocket science. Arguing for Triddin to take the hacks down is stupid, because any griefer or WOM'er can re-upload them. And taking hacks down will majorly **** off the WOM community. Pissed off players mean players converting to griefers, griefers who STILL have this client rampaging through public servers, and unlike normal griefers, with a purpose.

Might as well just wait for Notch to block Hacks.
Agreed. If you'd read my post you would see this exact point. The only reason I want him to take it down and apologize is for him to acknowledge he made a mistake and the he is sorry to the community. This closure is all I'm after. I'll reply to the others tomorrow when I get home

This is exactly how I feel as well. Although, I see alot of people complaining on the WoM server itself, but that's not really the point. If you're unhappy with the WoM server - Just don't go there, simple as that.
In my opinion, using hacks ruins the whole purpose of the game. Jumping, running and climbing are all crucial parts of Minecraft. If you enjoy flying around when building; Use an editor instead. This game is not hard.
It sucks that hacks has been distributed like this to everyone and their mothers. I can honestly say that I've lost alot of the passion I originally had for this game just because of that. I don't feel like running my own server is very fun anymore, it's more of a habit (or curse?) nowadays.
Currently I'm just waiting for Notch to develop that anti-hack.. stuff.
I haven't played Minecraft in months due to the fact that the hacked clients are the norm now. All the fun I had from this game has been sucked out. It's a good thing I paid for this when I did, because there is no way I'd pay for it now. As for WoM, I don't pay much attention to them in the first place, so I don't have anything that hasn't already been stated.
As for this thread, keep it clean, folks. Any personal attacks/flames on any party involved will be deleted, and repeated attacks are grounds for a ban. Just keep it civil, is all I'm asking.
oh btw lmao this is a bit rich coming from allnaturalx, who himself built a hacked version of survival and repeatedly acts like a nob.
That was a PoC and that was never supposed to get out. One person got it and started spreading it around though. The link in question was removed when someone linked me to the FP thread.

Edit - This is AlLnAtuRalX by the way. No I'm not coming back to the forums. I just thought it would be the easiest way to publicize or discuss this.

If Notch truely hated us, why did WoM get added to the community list on the official site? or have pictues from WoM on his blog?
