I am not a griefer. But when the OPs go on a power trip and demand their perfect world remain pristine while you lay subservience at their feet, begging to be released from spawn prisons, scrutinizing your every move, chastising you for digging a bleeding hole in a game called MINEcraft, that is when I really do want to grief. So kindly step down off your high horses and realize that in a sandbox game where you can erase just as easily as you can build, your monuments to perfection are not going to last. Your actions are only motivating more people to ruin your game.
And their efforts generally keep these structures safe. Is it not wrong to attempt to preserve a hard work?
well he's not really talking about the OPs trying to stop griefing, he's talking about the power hungry ones that wont let you build anything because their server is perfect or something. hannah montanna once told me NOBODIES PERFECT.
lolololol
As an operator, i find this a little... interesting, but also true in some cases. I've had a few ops shadow over me, go ape over things. But you know what the solution is? You REALLY want to know? Ignore em, just stay away. If the server has bad staff, then just stay away from em. Either that or just let it go, it's the internet mate.
I believe in the whole 'spawn prison' deal, but i wait until people ask before letting em out. Respectively anyways, not just in all caps like "HELP PLZ" Sure, whatever go do whatever and build whatever you want. But every op or admin has their own ways to moderate their servers, but if you don't like em, whatever. Find a server suitable for you. Can't find one? Make your own. Simple.
I would have agreed with you until I started my own server; run one and you may begin to understand why ops take the precautions they do. It's nothing personal and it (usually) doesn't have to do with an insatiable desire for power and glory either. My advice is to not take offense to being watched on your first stay because it's being done with the best interest of the server in mind. Ops can go overboard sometimes, myself included, but that kind of thing happens when you see the lengths griefers go to and all I can say is sorry.
I'm getting annoyed to the point where I don't find playing minecraft in public servers fun any more, I can't go 10 minutes without either having complaints about other players or having people complain about my ops. The problem is the "jumpy" nature of ops, they want to protect their stuff and the first sign of griefing is normally digging randomly, if they see you do it they don't want to give you the chance to grief their stuff so they ban.
"scrutinizing your every move, chastising you for digging a bleeding hole in a game called MINEcraft"
Oh really? I guess i was the wrong one when some ass started digging directly down, hit water, kept going, and flooded the building that took me a hour to make?

Nobody should have that many zippers. I dont care what fantasy it is.
I only have a problem with the ones who can't give a reason for what they're doing.
If you want to dig a hole to the bottom, you don't need to be on a multiplayer server to do it.
If you want to dig random tunnels and make random single block sky towers, you dont' need to be on a multiplayer server to do it.
If you want to build things, show it off, and talk to other people, then you're more than welcome to. Digging random holes to the bottom because the game is called "Minecraft" isn't a good enough excuse.
I don't run a server, sometimes I'll have one up for a few days if people like the map but I don't bother to run it properly and let anyone in. Everything usually gets griefed as soon as it's built. Sure when I'm on I usually employ 2 OPs to work with me banning griefers.
But gosh, it's a pain in the ass and makes my experience a whole lot less enjoyable. Which is why I am in favor of spawn prisons. It allows you to filter people out. Impatient assholes and griefers goodbye, decent players wit patience hello and welcome, can I get you a drink? Something to eat? Sure a few slip through the net, but hey I'd rather see one griefer than 3 or 4.
As for 'intimate examinations' I don't approve of too much because I feel they get in the way of what I'm doing a lot and don't serve any purpose what-so-ever in the long run because if I wanted to I could grief whilst your back is turned. So no, being a big brother wannabe is bad. Spawn prisons are logical. LOTS of OPs is good but difficult to achieve.

I disagree with you, therefore you are wrong.

I can say so many things right now I can't decide on what, so I'll just go with this since it pretty much sums it up.

you said that like 2 threads ago. its not very funny.
Funny? Why would it be funny? Unless you thinke people getting hurt is funny. But I was just amazed that people don't bother to read previous topics that already talked about this stuff.
Checking on people regularly is necessary. Stalking people is something I don't agree with. All you need to do is just /tp to someone every few minutes to ensure that they're either building or something. If they were running, I would keep that person in mind just in case they're running somewhere to grief, but most of the time that's not what they're doing.
Some servers are horrible with the aspect of trust because they can get too paranoid for their own good and won't ever stop stalking you like a snake. When I'm dissatisfied, I usually just point out what I don't like about what they're doing and leave.

What is wrong with those if I don't ban for the latter?

Former #minecraft channel operator.
I really hope this and spawn prisons change.
