I could guess Notch dosn't have time for it, but I'd be happy to make a site that lets you upload maps and displays them for download. Infact I am working on a map to image thing right now. So you could upload you map give a discription and the website would generate a picture for it. It'd be kinda minecraftskins.net but with maps....
Do you think I should make this?
(I do know php and C++)
I've posted about the development of this before, I own minecraftmaps.net and intend on slapping it together soon. It'll function the same as minecraftskins.net :tongue.gif:

I like this idea and I am sure many people would find this useful. I don't really care who makes it but I think only one of you should. :tongue.gif: Sorry but if there are two places then it's a lot harder to find what you need.

Maybe you could use some information from MinecraftTopographer. I can't remember who made it, but it works really well, and it would speed up development for you.

Whenever you're done with it catch me in IRC and I'll give you access to the little API I made for posting to the forum, if you want it to run like minecraftskin.net with the topics on submission. Also, I'll be happy to set up an ftp account for you on this server and set up minecraftmaps.net with it, so everything works nicey :smile.gif:
Allowing people to choose up to 6 screenshots and adding in a description feild. (and author feild)
Each map will get it's own little page with a screenshot viewer program and will show the description and a link to that persons Minecraftforums profile.
Might want to work on some of the "security" :tongue.gif: I didn't try anything more than basic HTML but I was able to make the page disappear with by setting the body to not display. Make sure you're using strip_tags on all your output.
The api I have returns "true" or "false" based upon the username and password sent, so you can use that also :tongue.gif:

I admit I is mostly from a tutoiral.
But hey, that's the easy part. (Oh and it works great.)
I added in the feature to make sure it is a valid .dat file and that it's less than 180000 bytes (180 kb)
