I don't know if anyone else has answered this, but I have an answer for it. You take a grass block away, you put it back. You can't select blocks but above and below grass everything is cobblestone. Load a rd-132211 map into a map editor and it's all stone. Therefore it's safe to assume that it just goes "there's a block, if it's level x (42 I think) then use the grass texture..."
It's awesome anyway. I'm just hacked off that 11a, 13a, and 13a_03 bomb instead of saving. I'd like to note that rd-161348 has the same date as was given for 0.0.09 so is it logical to assume that that is 09? Or the one immediately before?
What would be really awesome is if we could talk to Notch...
The versions 11a 13a 13a_03 and 0.30 (creative) all crash upon closing. I am not sure why. Is it impossible for the launcher to exactly simulate the conditions under which these versions were designed to run? Could this be fixed in a future update of the launcher, or not? I hope it will be, but with Notch selling his whole company to Microsoft, and MS not really caring about the game and its community the way Notch and company did, and with Notch maybe no longer even having the rights to create updates for the game, I fear that these needed fixes may never happen. If MS has the ownership, and applies a harsh EULA to the game (as MS tends to do with all software it owns, whether having made the software itself, or not) it is possible that "reverse engineering", "modding", etc will be forbidden, and Notch engaging in the action of creating an update, might from MS's point of view be equivalent to creating an illegal mod, in violation of the EULA. Thus even though Notch was the game's creator, it may be possible (and I fear this could happen) that him selling the game to MS, may actually strip him of his intellectual property rights to the game in such a way that it would actually be ILLEGAL for Notch to create any updates to HIS OWN GAME.
I don't know at what point in time the sale Mojang and all its software properties actually is complete, but I hope that before it is complete, Notch will release a fix for these issues and release for the launcher's version selection, absolutely every version of Minecraft that had ever been created (not even leaving one version out), and I hope he will do it before the completion of the sale strips him of the right to create anymore updates to the software (if in fact that is one of the things that this sale to MS will do).
