Okay, so I've been looking at spaceship maps lately, and I noticed a similar thing between each one of these space ship builds. They are all built in the overworld and they only look good at night! There's a method that I have been using since 1.2.5. Basically, you can use things like MCEdit, World Edit, or World Painter for this. All you gotta do is get rid of blocks in the END and leave some blocks left over for placing more blocks. If you leave some blocks behind, you can build off of them and build a spaceship! It looks nice through the windows of the ship and it's always dark and space-like. You can even add sphere shaped planets using McEdit or World Edit The sun will never come up so it looks cool. I hope I gave you good ideas for building. I hope this message gets out to people on Youtube, Planet Minecraft, and the forums so people can get smart about their space maps! I hoped you liked it!
Wow, never thought of that.
I might try that, if I ever feel the urge to build a spaceship.

My avatar-Madison Gotha. She knows various weapons, she's a mage/sage, and is somewhat immortal. Madison has the capability of taming and communicating monsters, a genetic trait passed down by her father. 26 physically, 1400-something mentally, and a Lofty Peakian/Zenithian mix. Doesn't really like being called an elf and hates being called human..
I might be Moderator, but don't bother treating me too special. And don't make tons of Ban Hammer jokes, please. Also, I'm an Off-Topic only Mod. Don't ask me to lock a thread or something if it's not in the off-topic
Great idea, once I tried that but with superflat biome presets to make it the End, but since the sun kept rising I had to build a clock hooked up to a command block repeatedly setting the time to night. It did not work out. Thanks for the idea though!
I once turned the End into a moon map I had created in World Painter via MCEdit. I had this huge base planned and everything, but it never got very far.
Plus the world got corrupted later on.
I guess that would work if you're doing something like this in survival. But if you are on a creative map, you can always just set it to night time, and do the /gamerule command so time does not move forward. This way you can send maps over to people and they won't have to travel to the end or whatever.

This is no longer needed as of 1.6 there is a new command called doDaylightCycle which give you the ability to make a map always day or night even if you sleep. So making a spaceship map now only needs a command and tada! but anyways this is always a nice idea when working with <1.6 versions of minecraft.
It's still useful for seperate worlds. I made a ship in the overworld with an unseen end portal at the entrance. You automatically get teleported to the ship in "space".
I will try it as soon as I will want to build a space related building
That's awesome! Tell me when you're finished. I will definitely play this.
I make a superflat world with only sand, than place on block and let the sand fall. (Lagfest!)
Then, I make a timer with command blocks that keeps it on night. This sounds easier. Thanks
for you

Teach a man to fish, it will last a lifetime.
