Hi All,
As most of you know, Minecraft 1.6 is coming out July 1st. Just for giggles I want to see some people's designs for a horse stable. Just take a screenshot and post it.
I just expanded my stables to make room for new foals and fillies. I wish I could train them to go into specific stalls at night.
The loft is for hay bale storage, which I made before realizing that I can't destroy hay bales (oops!). The double-doors enclose a small tack room with double-doors on the other side. In that room is a small chest for saddles, leads, golden apples, and horse armor. The blocks above the doors are inverted stairs, which creates a gap large enough to not suffocate me as I ride a horse through them.
I don't have it built yet, but it will be a public stable for my city map. I will use yellow and blue clay in a free-form modern style with numerous windows and skylights. The image in my head is pretty nice, I hope it will work in 3D.
I started with the basic barn design in the center there, but I added a wing to the back that is just a duplicate of the barn but sideways, to make an 'L'. There are a total of 12 individual stalls with water and hay for horses.
The stalls along the inside of the L open to let the horses roam free in that field there.
The horses on the other side have their own space, and a roof to stay dry. I didn't need six more stalls on another wing that I attached so I turned it into a gravel-lined arena.
Here's the back of the barn looking forward, the arena is on the right, I got my mule in there. The barn is open-air at the back where the hall ends (where I am standing here).
A horse in its stall. I haven't named any horses yet but I have some data on the signs so I know which are the best horses, and whether it's wild or bred. I built a racetrack 150 meters long and attached a hopper to pressure plates, so that's where the "Speed 36" sign comes from. The hopper dropped 36 items into a chest in the time it took the horse to reach the other end. My fastest horse left only 30 items in the chest. It's accurate enough but I don't think I can really measure meters/per second with that system even though I know the drop rate of a hopper, because I got a completely different number with a stopwatch and I got too lazy to try to calibrate it. As long as I don't tweak it and use the same units to take measurements I'll be able to compare them.
Anyways, this is the first thing I've built totally from scratch. I don't know what to do with the loft, there's a space under the roof. I have so much tack (I'm just really lucky with the dungeons) that I think I should stash some extra saddles up there.

It is nice, but it seems a little too building like, but a very good attempt.
Well it was intended to be building-like, since it's for my modern city build. I based it after the construction of parking garages, since that's basically what it is.

Hey, can we get a copy of the world this is on? Id love to have this in my world

NOW THATS WHAT I CALL A HORSE STABLE!!! That is such an epic design, from the field for the horses, to the signs with speeds! Well done!

Wait, did my post glitch?Yep it did. Anyway, I was saying that that is what a really awesome horse stable looks like. I would love to have a copy of the world to examine it further. Could I?

Here it is, what does everyone think?

Guest stable is because I play multiplayer and have visitors a lot.
Lol, now you can start replacing wool blocks with clay.
