The Meaning of Life, the Universe, and Everything.
Much like people have said before me, it normally comes naturally. When I started to play Minecraft I was SOOOOOOOO BAD at building anything, then I saw a video on Madnes64's YT channel (Go check him out, he is really good), which was about building a Medieval theme house, and instantly picked up the theme of Medieval, even without seeing any more of his videos. With watching my other friend TheGreatGeneral build his awesome Medieval creations, I soon picked up even more 'tactics' of building them.
just keep building, try different ideas, concepts, and keep building
no one start doing great things, everyone, as everything, start small and weak. the work on the way you want to get is what make you good and better (or not, depend if you really try and keep trying until it is done the way you want or if you just try until something is done or if you just give it one try and quit)
Looking at other builds is a great way to imporve. Like the easier way to make good looking ship sails is to stagger the sails every 2 blocks, and to curve the shape like a sea. My ships aren't mega but they do look great. Also I looked off a mega build for what was probably the best windmill I ever saw, and tried to mimic it. What I got was far different but still looked great. My homes usually follow a formula of wool surrounding what is about a 2x3 glass pane with spruce logs on either side. Make the second floor bigger than the first, and add supporting spruce logs to jut out just below the second floor to appear as supporting beams and then I cover the lower rim in spruce half slabs. The roof always is stone brick block with a stone brick stair on top, move up 1 and over 1 and repeat. Doing this only 2 opposite sides of the house leaves room for 2 windows in the roof on either side wall that the was made of wool. Lastly, windows can be created in the roof the give a dynamic depth, however properly roofing them requires counting out the spaces wide it will be against how long wide the roof is.
these builds are all at
when in the server type /warp beertower
my ships are below the tower, also the tower is far more complete than in the last pic.
Creativity and a very big imagination... Like me. Of course, you can do it the hard way, and keep on building... But it's much easier to think about it. Then you can make something like I made:
This. And before starting, you might need some help from some other people. It's much harder to do it on your own
It's a interesting question I personally just thought small wouldn't cut it for me and I needed to squeeze as much detail style and creativity in one build. Like this one I made that in still doing
I have also been teaching for weeks to my building team and they are definitely improving also on note from all that experiences learned nothing is more important than creativity and architectural knowledge ex. Arches and circles
that's a perfect build as it is adding more detail has a potential threat of ruining the builds original desire
building amazing is natural in some ways but hard work and learning in another part. Everybody who wishes to build must be unique, someone builds a castle that means you do NOT build a castle, you make a castle floating on a cloud with floating halo rings along it. See? CREATIVITY!!
This is to the masters. So do you have any tips for those of us wanting o try and start building cool stuff like this? I'm decent with redstone, but when it comes to stuff like this I'm rather primitive, I can do secret areas, and rooms with amazing uses, like he house I'm still not done with (I'll post some pictures of it.)
Anyways, I'm wanting to start a server and I want some buildings to already be there for people, and I want to be able to build ehat I need, I don't want to have to keep trying to find what I want, because most of the time it's not what I'm needing, or to my taste, or isnt the right size.
I want to be able to build amazing things, I'm gonna ty to do some stuff here soon, but I'd like it if those of you who have been building a while, or those of you who were like me, able to do redstone but when it comes to the aesthetic part, we suck, if you could tell me things to try and build to give me the skills I will need to do amazing things like that castle, or even the ability to make a large intricate bridge.
I'm going to try a few things that I haven't done before, and Try to create them to the best of my abilities, I'll post pictures of them and of the house that I am working on, and I'd like it if you guys would be able to tell me if its good or bad, and how to improve it.
Thanks for any help.
P.S. Just so you know my mental capacity, not sure if it will help, but it might, I am a sophomore in HS I am currently in AP Calculus, and I can read at an incredible level and understand most anything. Even with all o that, my art skill is quite terrible, I can generally vision what I want, but I can't make it go onto paper, but I can do a type of "art" where I do one like that never touches itself and it goes into odd designs and whatever. I'm hoping that I can do the 3D structures and art better than say art on paper or with clay.
Sorry for typos, im doing this with an ipod at 11pm
Why Voxel shperes? The voxel shperes helps you to figure out how we create curves in a blocky world. And also, any layer of any sphere or part of any sphere can help creating curve parts of any object. The more you'll use voxel spheres, the less you'll need to figure out how to do curves. And after a while you'll be able to create your own curves the way you want.
2: Reproduce icons: I did that once. Do Google image search in any category, but choose icons, even a precise resolution if the icons you find are not what you want. This will help you a lot to figure out how to create drawing patterns.
3: Try to reproduce victorian desing: Victorian desing is the time in history were the desing was one of the most complex. There's also the Louis era. If you can manage to reproduce this kind of desing, when you'll create your own, everything will seems easyer to create.
Hey, great topic and comments! My friends and I are actually doing a formal study (we're mechanical engineering grad students at BYU) of how groups in Minecraft do large builds together, would you like to see the preliminary results of the study? Here is the link to the report:
We've gotten some interesting data on things like how to organize your team, how many people should be on a team, how to best communicate, how people best learn and get better at building, etc.
I hope that helps!
Well people who make amazing buildings have lots imagination and time. Some tips might help you :
1. Lots of time...
3. Knowing controls well. (If you don't, it will take longer than if you do since you might mess up)
4. Better if in Super flat. ( if not, you either download a mod or do lots of digging...)
5. Have fun! don't rage a lot which means you might quit when you're almost done. But you can...if you want...
Hope this helped you finding out why people build so good or help you build a giant building or statue or whateves.
EDIT: Maybe you can practice by building 3D structures. Small ones. I reccommend playing Build It! To practice. Since you can practice building faster since you have a small amount of time to build the word you get. It's fun too.
