I am not one to criticize this game. I have been on it since August and think it is amazing. This game feels like it it is still in its infancy stages and has an unlimited growing capacity. It will only get better over the years to come.
With all of that said, I must say I am not a fan of the bats in creative mode. They become a distraction when I am trying to concentrate on a build. I can live with a sheep, cow or chicken getting in the way once in awhile - they are easily taken care of. Bats on the other hand are fast, random and hard to get rid of.
Hmmmmmm, that reminds me about the wolves when they wrere firstly added in the game. The barks of the dog state were annoying. Too many. With 5 dogs that was a real cacophony. And later Mojang fixed that.
When I read what you wrote, I think that the bats too will eventually be changed, calibrated, etc. It happened for every thing added in Minecraft since I was in, in Alpha state.
I suggest you to analyse carefully the "annoyingness" of the bats the way you see it, and then post it to Mojang.
who cares? you cant place blocks inside of sheeps and cows, but bats move so fast that they are never in your way
Azar, Actually bats DO get in the way. If they are flying around in the path of your placed blocks the blocks will not place on a bat. Its not a big deal - just an annoyance.
Eddie, I am playing on peaceful mode, thus the whole reason for my original post. As for your last comment you yelled at me, maybe you should know all the facts before you try to troll.
Currently, the spawn rate for bats is high. But within about a week I think, the code will switch over to a different bat spawning code making bats pretty rare.
Mojang put the spawn rate higher for Halloween. @Person above me. Bats are staying. Nao go awai.
If I remember, bats spawn in light levels of 6 and lower. After it switches, they will spawn in light levels of 3 and lower, and 1 out of two 2 bats trying to spawn won't spawn.
That makes sense about Halloween Phycozz. I agree, I don't think the bats should go away, they do add something to the game. I'm just not crazy about 10 of them flying around me when I'm trying to do some math on a build.

Here is my cure for your problem.
/gamerule doMobSpawning false
This disables all mob spawning on the map even neutral and peaceful mobs. when you do the command just leave SP and come back and they will be gone forever.

Well at least a few of you get what I am trying to say here.

I find it sad how so many people are TL:DR'ing this topic and missing my post about the power of /gamerule doMobSpawning false and keep saying they spawn in peaceful.
Also one thing to note for some. The command IS case sensitive so you have to type the command as i did.

1. Don't drop anything when killed.
2. Sleep in dark places, and scare you.
3. Bats are too small to kill with bow and arrow.
For these reasons, THE BATS HAVE TO GO!!!!

Why would you want to kill Pwap'a Durp? They aren't scary they are ADORABLE.
