I've used Single player command and MCedit for a while, but one thing has always bugged me when terraforming.
Why can I not use the //smooth brush in enclosed areas without completely deforming the area.
When Creating a giant cave, and trying to make it looks somewhat natural becomes impossible, smooth brush I can't get working properly so I'm left with spherical indents in all the walls. I am building giant cave for my adventure map. First I make giant hole with "//brush sphere" command, but using the smooth brush on both walls, ceilings and any form of overhang just doesn't work.
Use Voxelsniper or WorldPainter instead. I run my world on a Bukkit server so I use Voxelsniper to do everything in game. Much easier. I still use MCEdit to copy/paste schematics but that is about all I use it for.
Is there a size parameter for the brushes you use? Using larger spheres and setting the smooth brush to a smaller size to give more control over how things get smoothed might help, too.
I just saw this video , so i did the same thing as this guy with single player commands. But now I have another problem: How to import large cave in my mountain without interrupting surface of the mountain?? Here are some pictures of my adventure map:
This is my mountain:
