Hi all. I play on a server called CheersBros, and I built this Colorado-class battleship on it. The ship is mostly to scale, maybe with a few minor errors. The interior is incomplete, so I am only displaying the exterior. I got some help from some of my buddies, but the majority of the work was done by me.
I have not yet lowered the ship into the water (which I will do so soon with WorldEdit), which is the reason why the keel is visible. The ship features a main battery of dual 16" guns in four turrets, 10 single 5" guns, and 10 single 3" guns. I was unable to complete the aircraft catapult launcher thingy due to lack of space. The length of the ship is 191 blocks and the width is 31 blocks. The draft is approximately 14 blocks.
The real USS Colorado was 190 meters in length, 30 meters in width and had a draft of 12 meters.
Below are some screenshots. I would appreciate it if I could get some feedback on how to improve my ship. Thanks for any help given.
A view of my ship off the bow.
A view of the ship from directly in front of the bow.
A top-down view of the ship.
A detailed shot of the number two turret.
A view of the superstructure and the various smaller guns along the sides.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my ship. Remember, all feedback is welcome!
If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
AWESOME BUILD! I love your creativity! The only thing I would change is that I would make it "ride" lower in the water?? To bad you can't really take this for a drive.
Thank you for the positive comments, everyone. I will try and answer your questions one by one.

I did mention that I had not yet lowered the ship into the water, which was why the keep is visible. I like to build the keel out of the water, then use WorldEdit to move the ship, makes building easier and all. Thanks for reminding me though!

Yeah, I didn't really think about progress pics. I'll try it with my next ship; just started work on the Japanese battleship Yamato. It's going to be on a 1:1 scale as well.

I mainly used line drawings and blueprints, but pictures helped me get an idea of the curves and stuff. As for more about its creation, well... it took about 14 or 15 hours of building time, maybe less... I'm not sure what else I can tell you. Of course, if there's something specific that you want to know about, feel free to ask!

Yeah, the ability to drive that thing would be nice, but a mod wouldn't help me out here. Remember, I built it on a server.

You could start out with something small like a cruiser or a destroyer. It's kinda easy once you get the hang of it. I've built two other battleships and several sailing ships before, on other servers. All were lost when the servers closed though. Pity.
And a big thank you to the rest of you, for taking the time to review my ship.
Unfortunately, the server was hacked about a week ago and my ship got griefed in the chaos. It was really fortunate that the owner managed to save a schematic of my ship that morning, before the griefs.

Thanks for the positive comment! And although I wouldn't think of myself as awesome... I'm glad to know that somebody else does. :3
Stay Genuine. Stay Fearless.

Sorry mate, but I don't have the schematic with me right now. I'll try and put up a link soon, eh?

Thanks!

Great idea! But yeah, the owner is on vacation in L.A., so I can't get him to send me the schematic until he returns.
