Some people want to make tall structures like statues, but if the blocks are too high you reach the block limit.
Low Level = Taller Height
However i would like the OPTION to set it higher.
Oh, I see what you're getting at. A thicker super flat probably wouldn't effect other peoples skyscrapers, because the height level was changed to 280 (260? I forgot) blocks. All I would want, is SF to be at least 20 blocks deep.
Though, superflat should have a slider to edit the height.
I like that idea. That way you can set it low so that you still have loads of height to build into, or you can set it a little higher so you can dig downwards. I often find myself wanting to add a cellar room or tunnel under something to add redstone, and it's a pain when you're only a couple of blocks away from the Void.
I'm most certain that there are 3 layers of dirt and a layer of bedrock on superflat worlds so people can build quite some tall structures, like towers, without having to dig oversized ditches, as Frayfray says. And three (or four for bedrock) would be enough to consider the world "superflat", otherwise, more layers would make it normal flat, or even superthick if there are way too many layers. I figured this is here so we won't have to put up with these huge layers, but this is just my opinion.
I mean, it's a flat world. Having in up to level 20-64 shouldn't make anyone lag.
I'm making a custom map on super-flat, and I'm going to have to use MCedit to raise the map so I can build more.
true i'm saying for accient systems it would add a good five to ten frames + i do also think it makes it harder to build aventure maps because it removes somthings that help build the aventure for example the fact you can't add cave or stronghold like builds underground withouttolling just to add heigth
My friend only plays on super-flat because he has a horrible computer. The 3 layers of dirt are enough to build a tunnel or a shallow basement. When he gets close to a village in super-flat, it starts to lag (yes, that's how bad his computer is). So I've made a brilliant theory, the more blocks/layers, the more chunks are loaded, the more chunks are loaded, THE MORE LAG THERE IS.
