build a huge mage college. have a central tower, and quarters and such. Check the Elder Scrolls: Oblivion/Skyrim for some really cool design ideas if you want.
I want to build something huge, something that can keep me occupied for a while. Any ideas?
Step 1- build your house.(not to scale, i doubt your house has a meter thick walls :).
Step 2- build da 'hood (your neighborhood)
Step 3- the known parts of the city, mall. Etc.
Step 4- you get the point.
The sawxhoeshovpicker is the chuck norris of tools
the ground shakes in its presence the wind stops blowing and the pigs give you their bacon and obsidian mines itself[;/quote]
Build an underwater city covered by a glass dome. I'm going to do this myself soon. Once you have the dome built (which is time consuming when it's a big dome), It takes a lot of time to remove the water inside because you have to completely fill the space in with blocks then remove them all.
First of all, that is what she said.
Second, don't build the things people suggested here, draw ideas from other people incorporate them into your own idea. Use a mod, use several. And then redesign your buildings. Then use a different texture pack build buildings using that texture pack. Or build buildings that can be beautiful using any texture pack.

Maybe this will spark some ideas for you!
i've been building some superstructure creations these days, and this is something that i've just finished creating:
the basic knowledge: it's a super roller coaster that starts off with a freefall down underground. from there you experience amazing views, confusing paths, more falls, and getting pretty wet.
i'll post the file for this world once i know more about this forum post editing stuff, i'm new to the forums.

yes, I agree (yet, anyway, I think he asked for suggestions) but, sometimes I am just out of idea of "what" to build and when that happen, to draw ideas from other people to incorporate to "my" idea dont work if I have no idea of something to build.
but yes, anything can be a start to that then he can build different stuff all around and create something bigger like a world, kingdon, country, city, levels of a game, random creations side by side without any reason to be there but just to be there . . .
1. Build a basic piston door, where a block is pushed, while a piston pushed BY a piston sends the blocks forward. (God i'm confusing....)
just make a door using pistons.
2. Download mods! Mods will give you basically "expansions" to Minecraft. I've never downloaded one into my files myself, but I hear good things about them!
3. Make an Iron Farm! The 'blueprints' are confusing, but here's how it works:
1: Villigares are trapped in glass tubes, causing them to...uh....multiply.
2: Minecraft had a sucky way to detect homes. Basically, a door with a block above it is a house. (Villigers follow them)
3:Once there are enough villagers and "homes", Iron Golems will spawn.
4: Using a well-made lava-water thing, the golems die. If a current is set up, iron ingots (and roses :3) will come towards you, if you're near the current.
Look up a tutorial for it.

Other than that, try building a lot.
how about a fully wired ship? (complete with weapons that can be activated from the bridge, and a power system)
