Greetings, all. I spent the last 3 hours applying the excellent lessons JamziboyMinecraft has posted on youtube, (Thank you Jamzi, if you're reading this,) and this is the result. This inn is my first fully-furnished minecraft structure, and the first one I'm actually proud of.
Outside views
Main dining hall, after entering the inn
Main dining hall, viewed from the upper floor
Upper floor bedroom, one of three
Kitchen
Storage Cellar
Main fireplace
The cellar entrance and storage room beneath the main stairwell aren't currently pictured.
Any thoughts or opinions? I'm proud of it, but any tips or pointers are always appreciated.
Also, currently searching for a way to import this to my survival map, as my fireplaces and smoking chimneys aren't available in creative.

What I would really like in 1.7 is to log on to the forum and not see a wall of 'OMG u BroKe 'XXX' I hatezx U' _Zenity
Thanks. It's a vast improvement over my previous "best" structure. (Literally, a cobblestone box with several floors and a castle top, surrounded by a rectangular wall.) I highly recommend the above-mentioned tutorials, as they helped me immensely.

That's awesome! You really captured his tutorial for Medieval Buildings. I like your Iron bars that you put in front of the fireplace. But the tables in the kitchen can be switched to a fence and pressure plate now. =)
Eventually this is probably going to force me to start accepting the new light -- but only because the skylight at night makes awesome builds like this just that much more awesome. (then again I could just desaturate torchlight and turn off flickering solving all of my problems)
But seriously, this is exactly what I would have expected on clicking a linked called "Medieval Inn" and it's as good as I would have expected too. Keep up the great work here. Pretty inspired to do something like this myself but I've been plagued with very irritating graphics card issues and I've been unable to play the game for over a week. It just so happens that all of the urge-inducers would happen during this time, heh.
FuroxMC:
Yes, but pressure plates leave gaps between each section. I wanted more of a countertop feel, which the more seamless pistons provided.
Kietho and Wintermute: I'm flattered, but I don't really have the time to devote to a large scale build. I will, however, post up the MCEdit schematic files of this and any other buildings I finish, and you're free to import them into your servers, so long as you leave me some credit. (And let me know, so I can swing by and check it out sometime. :smile.gif: )
Dorling: Yes, I could do that, but I don't like the possibility of fire spreading in a building that's almost entirely wood and wool. XD Besides, I like the external effect of the smoking chimneys.
Thanks. It was feeling too cramped on the lower floor, so I opened up the second and added that chandelier and balcony in the center of the building. Keeps it cozy without being claustrophobic. The dining areas and kitchen still have a relatively low ceiling, but the bedrooms extend all the way up until they reach the slope of the roof, which comes to about 6 blocks in height at the "tall" edge.
This post is quite late as well, but I really loved this design and it was fun to build, too. It's far more interesting than the square towers I've regularly seen where I play. I've put a lovely sign above the fireplace giving credit to you, of course :smile.gif:

I love the look of the windows, where you used glowstone. Wish there was a way to have that look and be able to see out.
I believe the look of the building while enhanced by the texture pack, would still hold up given the default texture pack.
Thumbs up!
