Not sure if this will help, but there is a guy on YouTube who is really good at building. His channel is called World of Keralis, and his videos are all about building. It really helped me out, so it is definitely a good option.
Well, what I like to do is turn an ordinary house into a "Piston House". A Piston House is a normal-looking house, but it is filled with all sorts of crazy contraptions! Try to make piston doors, secret rooms behind the bookshelves, and hidden staircases!

One thing that makes a huge difference is your blocks. Making sure you a complimentary building pallet. Blocks that aren’t monotone and don’t class start with a small structure and see what blocks work. You can’t make a house with all sandstone you need to add more to make it easy on the eyes. Try adding birch planks, oak wood, trap doors, wooden buttons, etc. Things that complement. And also decor. If you have a build the outside scenery can inhance it so much more. Custom made trees, rocks, fountains, bushes, etc. And don’t always build perfect square or rectangular houses change the dimensions, the base lay out. It will dramatically help. And if you always need extra help look at pictures of buildings and houses for inspiration.
