Any boat builders out there? I'm planning a new medieval city build divided by a wide river, this would make it a perfect trading city but any bridges I build across will need to be at least tall enough to let a fair sized trade ship through. However, I don't think I've built a large boat in quite a few years, mainly I'd like to try this concept so I can get some practice so I have no idea how tall I should make my bridges.
My gut feeling is that 20 blocks from water to bridge should be enough but how tall would a mast usually be?

I'd say around 10-20 blocks tall, depending on how long the ship you're building is. I find this to be not too tall, but not so short, so that you don't have any room to build sails or really small sails.

Yeah that's probably enough, I ended up going with 50 blocks just to be safe
Woah! How large are you building your ship? (e.g length, width, hull-to-crow's nest height) Also, can we see a screenshot of it after it's done?
I'm not sure yet, I haven't started planning the boats yet but I wanted to leave enough room so I don't have to redo the whole thing later. I'll probably start a build log when I actually start building stuff. Right now I'm still working on the map in worldpainter, I'm planning a few other cities and towns still.
This is a shot of the harbour from where the bridge will be, it'll go straight across to the other cliff so the boats will have to go under it to get to the docks.

Woah. That's going to be a huge bridge. Good luck on your build!
