Since I play on a Fixed World Border Server (recently update to 1.13.1) - whenever new structures appear in Minecraft updates we don't get them unless we either expand the border OR wipe out the world & create a new one
The Owner/Admin doesn't like the idea of wiping out the existing established world each time a new structure appears (some players have spent YEARS building towns/cities etc) so I thought maybe by using Structure Blocks I could (as a Moderator) 'spawn in' the new structures at random places where no players have built - just to give players a chance of exploring/finding them
Now being new to Structure blocks I've discovered that using the default structure names will spawn in the structure but with DATA blocks added - which are only used on 'world creation' to act as markers for whatever entity/item should be placed in that location - eg Chest / Shulker etc (unless someone knows of a way to activate these type of blocks when summond in via Structure blocks - if they do can you post how... thanxs)
So I thought maybe I could
- Use world generated structures from a seperate single player world
- Ask the owner 'VERY' nicely if he could add the new structure block files to the server
This way any Staff that have access to the Structure blocks could then pop to random places & use one to create structures that would normally only beavailable on a world update
.... well that's the idea.....
Since the End is also fixed size we've been VERY limited in end cities so I thought I'd learn about Structure blocks & start with these
- copy/make a few endcities to place randomly around the end ...... however here's the problem
In my tests I've tried saving/loading structures with different hostile mobs & have discovered that Shulkers ARE NOT saved in structure blocks - even if the 'Include Entities' is 'ON'.
Is this normal ?? or have I found a bug ??
Is there a way to include Shulkers in Structure Blocks ??
Is there anyway of 'activating' DATA blocks without a new World Generation ? .. basically cut out the 'create new structure blocks' files part & use the original minecraft Files
This is a bug which has been around since 1.10 and affects various entities, including Shulkers, due to structure blocks failing to properly save all of their NBT data: https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-108149
You can work around this by manually spawning them in at the proper locations, perhaps by adding temporary marker blocks so you know where to place them, which shouldn't be too much of an issue unless you are placing a large number of structures.

Many thanks for that info..
Being a newbie on Structure Blocks I wouldn't of known it was already a known bug.
As for the 'manual spawn in' I was hoping for a more 'automatic' method.. which (in theory) ....might be possible by extending on Tyruswoo idea
.. I'm currently thinking that maybe add extra command blocks that spawns in shulkers at specific places automatically when a structure block spawns in a section before clearing out the redstone/commandblock(s) 'linking device'..
First things first though... get end cities & split them into separate structure block
You can work around this by physically bringing forth them in at the best possible areas, maybe by including brief marker squares so you know where to put them, which shouldn't be excessively of an issue except if you are putting a substantial number of structures.
I'm not expecting to spawn in too many Endcities (once I've figured this all out).
I've currently gathered 4 large cities (each with a sky boat) so probably will create one of each in each quadrant of our [fix sized] end - perhaps once a month for a 'special event'
First some background

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
