I am trying to make an adventure map where when player kills all mobs stairs appear. How to /testfor dead mobs?
you cant test for dead mobs but you can make a scoreboard objectibe that tracks if a player kills a spesific mob
also this should be in the redstone and mechanisms tab not the creative one

Easiest way is to tie this to an achievement. Then you can set a predetermined trigger (player_killed_entity) and the exact criteria which the player needs to fulfill. In this case killing an x amount of mobs. See this page for more info.
