I recently discovered that if you place a boat on ice, it can still move, and at least 4x as fast as on water, while also carrying the slippery properties of walking on ice. Immediately it dawned on me that i should use this property to create race tracks, and play Initial D music in the background while racing my friends.
I found a seed with a really long river, and am currently icing it over.
When it's finished, i'll have a video of the whole track as well as a link to a google drive download for the world. When it's available to download, you will need to install MultiMC (link below) and use it to install the mod Extra Utilities 2 (link below). The builder's wands included were necessary for the creation of large scale tracks.
In the process of doing things with this idea, i realized that there are probably a lot of people out there who could be way better than this than I am, and i think the community could make some truly crazy things. So here i am, writing this as a community hub hub for Tokyo Drifting in Minecraft. Create and share your tracks here.
The process to making a good one is very intuitive, but to make the race smooth, while icing over a river, use packed ice (of course), and widen the river severely.
Anywhere there's a substantial turn, bring the river out quite far, to allow maximum drifting.
Also, with the ice being at water level, make the banks of whatever river at least 1 block high to create a barrier, preventing off-track 'crashes'.
If you find a good river with dried up land gap, use TNT or the Destruction wand to bring everything down to water level.
If there is ever the need to create a barrier to section off a part of the river, bring up the riverbed using the builder's wand.
Note: I would like to add images to this post but they do not seem to be loading in properly
