I have finally decided to try my hand at creative mode building a castle. This is my first castle it took me about 6 hours to complete. Any feed back, good or bad would be much appreciated.
Could probably add stained glass windows to the big corners and on the big thingy in the middle. Maybe also add another block type like quartz or something, looks a little too... bricky. Otherwise you got the shape and everything down. good job
Thank You, I will modify it some, I just mainly wanted to get a basic shape before I got too deep into it, but I like this idea of stained glass and quartz.
I am making modifications, as you can see here I used some stained glass blocks to re-do the roof spirals. I will be adding more as I go. I think I will create a make shift village around the castle complete with streets.
im not sure how you feel about this, but when i build in creative mode, i usually dont use a superflat world so i can get some cool terrain pictures and stuff with the backgrounds. In this you cant really do anything about it anymore, but i just wanted to mention that. it gives more realism and coolness to the builds imo
I agree with you, Red_rocket23. I am building anew castle in a more 'realistic' world. My use of the Flat terrain was simply to help me understand better the basic structure principles of a castle. I began a new castle, and I will post it when I get to a nice stopping point. This time I am going to add some things like landscaping/ hardscaping , maybe a few village houses and a town square-----more like a kingdom than just a castle this time. I appreciate the feedback it helps to generate ideas and improvements.
It looks very Russian, especially after you colored the tops of the towers. Very cool. How'd you get the water to ripple in the fountains? Is that just the resource pack?

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. I will face my fear. I will let it pass over me and through me, and when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Thanks EVERYONE for the feedback, it is very encouraging to know I am on the right track with my idea of this castle. I have changed over to a new AMPLIFIED world in which I have started a new castle and am very indulged with building it on a very interesting terrain. Building it on this amplified world is proving to be much more difficult but a lot more fun. I think I too will now be a member of the "No Superflat Club".
I'll drop a few screenshots when I am done with the new castle, hopefully it will entertain you as well. Thanks again.
such a amazing job i love it! keep up the good work

97% of teenagers would cry if they saw Justin Bieber on top of a tower about to jump. If you're the 3% who is sitting there with popcorn screaming "DO A BACKFLIP", copy and paste this as your signature.
I have begun a new project in Creative mode (NOT using Superflat ). The new project is taking a while (I have limited time to work on it due to my job) BUT, I came up with an idea -not sure how it's going to look- that I will build my town beneath my castle, complete with tunnels and shops. the housing I will build around the castle. I have completed the foundation part beneath the castle, looks pretty plain right now but as the building continues I will post a few pics and see what everyone thinks. right now it is just too ----bland.
I have worked on the New one today and have accomplished some. I now have the walls up and the stain glass in as well as the floor on the first level (ceiling of lower level town). Some changes will occur later, for now I am keeping it "square" to make it easier to build up. I will begin the first part of the towers and inner courtyard tonight.
I am hoping that if it goes close as planned to have aqueducts throughout the town with a reservoir as well as a stream/river around the castle. It is taking a while to get it all done, as you can see I haven't even finished the castle yet. I would love to do this on a server with help, but I have trust issues when it comes to my IP.
Thanks for the input, I love how just a few comments can generate awesome ideas and influence structure building and planning.
Here is an update to the NEW castle. so far, I have added 4 of the towers and I did a little hardscaping/landscaping to try and see where I want to go with the exterior around the castle. I'm not sure if I will be leaving the landscaping "as-is" or changing a few things, either way there will be additions to it.

I love it! Especially those two fountains in the front! You should make a whole Renaissance styled village now to surround it.

This looks really cool! It looks very nice and colorful especially with the stained glass.

The water ripples seem to work with most texture packs I've tried, the one I used for this castle is "Conquest 1.8"
What I did to get the ripples:
1. using slabs, I lay out 4 in a square
2. I add 2 slabs to each side (total of 8) to look like a "+" (plus) sign.
3. Add 4 more slabs to the middle 4 on top
4. build the wall for the fountain and then add water to each of the 4 top slabs in the center, then delete all the slabs.
(I tried to do this with a full block in the center, but for some reason it didn't ripple the same (though it will ripple)
OH MAII GUD! It looks great dude, good job xD

Ooh! Looks fantastic! One of the better builds I have seen on these forums.
I post pretty rarely nowadays. Gosh, I wish this place weren't so... empty...

I decided to go ahead and post a photo of the start, of course there will likely be changes but here it is.

This thing looks so great! I could never never never never never make a castle as close to amazing as this! You should put a moat around it.
