I just finished checking it all out and I have one complaint:
Was the zombie, human, and other screwed up stuff "story-line" really necessary? It feels far too removed from the actual world of Spyro and lacks reason, to me.
Yeah, I can see that. Well, as a writer, all of my stories involve elements of drama and tragedy (it's just what I do), so it's natural for it to be the first thing that comes to mind when I try to come up with journals.
I really do try to mix it up a lot and include a lot of light-hearted stories, like the complaints about the "stupid human architect", or the upset florist being forced to live with a crazy butcher, or who owns what tower. But it's only natural that the more dramatic elements, like Lixa's disappearance, seem to hold more weight. Especially if you don't like that kind of story. XD
I'm still trying to find a balance and I'll admit I'm more skewed towards "seriousness" than I should be. But if I put ONLY light-hearted journals in, then the lore may get stale. And, personally, I really like the depth of the mystery I created in Town Square, and I'd like to do something like it again later. But if that happened every level, then it'd seem like the story was written by Shadow the Hedgehog and it would be a major turn-off for everyone involved. XD So, it's a balancing act.
Anyway I'll shut up now because the lore in this map holds about 20% importance overall and doesn't deserve more than 3 paragraphs. I'll chat your ear off about my stories if you let me, but people come here for the build, not the journals. xD
It's just that, when you're hopping along in a whimsical dragon world, and you come across a place that has a bunch of signs all over it, it's very jarring and doesn't feel appropriate..
*sparkly eyes* I just learned about this now. I might have to scan through the worlds again and see if these will fit in anywhere... They're so.. Spyro-y. xD

Yeah I was considering removing those signs off the exterior anyway. If I really want to keep them I can put them on the inside, the interiors are mine to play with XD
I'm currently working on doing some small edits, mostly entirely scrapping the story in the Square and other journals. some journals i kept because i found them amusing.
these will be from my own headcanons of the Dragon Realm and it's lands/worlds.
just something to keep me busy in my spare time and please myself lol.
i will upload the map w/ the edits when i'm all done with it. :^)

Oh wow, I never expected anybody to ever actually edit this map. XD Have fun. ^^ I'd recommend writing/copying the journals down somewhere else, also. If you want to continue this project later, you'll lose all your progress with the new builds. And Book/Quills can't be copy-pasted out of, only into.
Oh, if you need to know the location of any redstone things/secrets/extras for whatever reason, just let me know. If you didn't find the lab in Town Square, it's part of the Lixa storyline, so you'll probably want to edit that area or fill that in completely. The tower that can only be reached by a bridge has a library in it with a switch.
Also, I've moved the signs inside, I agree it's a bit too glaring. XD So that'll be in the next release. The plot in Stone Hill itself is intact, but it's not as in-your-face, only people who are actually exploring all the houses will find it.
I just wanted to say thank you for putting all this time and effort into this. As a classic Spyro fan I enjoyed this quite a bit.
I also liked the story-line with the girl who was sent away by the tyrannical Headmistress. In general I liked most of the story lines. I would have to agree the Zombie infestation seems a bit out of place, but it seems to add some relevance on how humans were in world before they were made slaves and became zombies.
All the level designs were really faithful to the original while taking the liberties in places were it would make sense (like in the castle behind where you start in the Artisans I always wanted to go in there as a kid).

Thank you.
The idea that I had was that the humans were turning into zombies, which after several years mutated into the dragons themselves... But the point of this idea has been lost to memory. I think there was a reason I needed this world to take place in the far future of Earth... But I can't remember. So I'm just rolling with the things 17-year-old me came up with, even if they're a little bit silly. ;P
I did too, all those castles and towers you couldn't enter always enticed me. That's why I made all the interiors instead of just the levels exactly as they were. Some might prefer that, but anyway, if people started clamouring for that sort of thing, I'd be happy to fill in the interiors and release it as a separate download. xD

I love this! I'm a huge fan of the original Spyro trilogy so this was really cool to see. You've done a fantastic job recreating the worlds and I really loved the little title screen area (Such a nice touch). I'd love to write a huge spiel but I'll just sum it all up and say I really enjoyed what you have so far and anticipate seeing more. ^^
I think it'd be cool to build this in a more well-known modpack like FTB Infinity, since you have a wider variety of blocks to use. Still, I guess there's nothing wrong limiting yourself within keeping everything vanilla, since it makes the map more accessible to the public & compatible across different platforms. Not much I can say besides you're doing God's work. With that being said, Keep it up!

Confession: I've never played with mods outside of modpacks. I'm... not really even sure how. XD Plus, I think it would just be a little overwhelming. I've played with packs like that and I just spend 2 hours looking at all the blocks, with no idea where to begin... But with the new concrete and glazed blocks, I'll have a much greater degree of customization. I'll probably even go back and pretty up some of the worlds.
So mods outside of modpacks huh. I do it all the time. I have yet to do a new forge installation video. For the new launcher. I could do that if you want.
In short.
1.Forge is the mod api that makes mods work. So got to the files.minecraftforge website.
2.So you get the forge option of the minecraft version you want to use.
3.Install it. (I use the .jar installer) simply called installer. Skip the ad. Then just close that window.
4.Go to downloads. Click the .jar
5.Wait until the .jar is done. Then remove it. You won't need it anymore.
Then get the mods you want. Preferrably from curse or curseforge. Planet Minecraft is ok, but most other sides are not to be trusted unless author specific sites. Like for example. Chickenbones (the old NEI and so on author, there is a new author but NEI is an addon for 1.9.4+ so use if you want), or Micdoodle (the galacticcraft author).
Now go to the launcher (if using the new one) go to profile (as in Minecraft version settings). The way to say use snapshots, latest release or so. If you have separate profiles. If not then create a new profile before hand.
Once you have created a new profile or have a previous profile.
Go to versions, select a forge version.
Run it and forge is ready for say if you selected 1.11.2, then that.
Then add mods in the mods folder in the forge placement area, either C or D drive or wherever your minecraft folder is. A video will show it better but that's what I know. The java memory stuff is a bit technical so that Minecraft uses more memory to run. Mods need this as they add more to the original game compared to the less burdening standard game.
Hello! I really hope you're still working on this. I wanted to ask you if I could use these levels in a project I'm working on. I too am working to recreate Spyro the Dragon in vanilla Minecraft. I'm working on all the command blocks, however, as my building skills are... er... lacking...
Besides that though, this is only day two of my project and I already have whirlwinds, gems, 1-Up chests, and lives! I still have a lot of work to do though, and I was wondering if you would let me use these builds in my map (with credit/social media links etc., of course).
Anyway, thank you for these awesome builds! I'm working in 1.12, although I can easily convert the maps from 1.11. Once again, awesome job on these!

Yup, still a thing. The inside of the castle in Toasty is giving me some issues, and I've been busy focusing on other things, but I'll work it through eventually.
Knock yourself out. :3 I'd love to see a link whenever you post it!
I do have my own redstone on this map, however. In case you need to remove or rework it, let me put together the locations I can remember...
Title Screen: Everything is under the island. Just fly below it (and use a night vision potion). Anything else is below the note blocks.
Artisans Home Stepping Stone Puzzle: To the right of the little platform in front of the waterfall pond. (It extends for quite a while, into the wall. Also, the clocks down there break pretty often due to chunk reloading.)
Artisans Home Whirlwind: Right in the center of the tower
Town Square: In the "Jeweller's Shop" (near the Return Home portal), there's a secret door in the basement, behind the chiselled sandstone. Key's in one of the item frames.
Town Square: One of the bridged towers has a switch in the library that leads to a secret room.
All Return Home particle clocks are near the portal. Just dig around the ground a little bit.
I think that's about it. And all speed/jump boosts, world teleports, etc, are right below the pressure plate of course.
Finally, my build includes interiors with notebooks that did not appear in Spyro the Dragon. Will this interfere with your map? I'd be fine with making a separate build that filled in the interiors, removed the grave in Stone Hill and other of my additions, etc, so it'd be perfectly accurate to the game. Just lemme know if you need it, it's no problem. ;P
If you don't, then I'll PM you my current build to use instead. I've made some changes to the worlds that haven't been released yet. Removing the signs on the house in Stone Hill, smoothing some landscaping in Artisans, etc. So, when I release Toasty, your map won't look like it's using an outdated version. (Also, you'll get a sneak peak at Toasty!)
Sorry for the giant response, a simple "yes I'll PM you my build though" probably would have sufficed. XD

The interior of some places, I would like to be removed, along with a few other places that allow the player to get to a higher spot via ladder in a house (namely the red house in Town Square) but some interiors I like and would like to keep. Not with doors or anything that lets the player inside, though. For example, the castle that you first spawn in front of looks awesome inside, and the windows make it still look cool. That way, it makes it look like the castle is still used, just not enterable by Spyro... does that make sense? Lol, I feel like I sound needy.
This way it's similar to the "perfectly accurate version", but not to where it just looks all flat.
As for the redstone, I do have my own contraptions, and all the locations will help me out a lot, thanks for that!
The current build will be useful, as then I can plan for the revisions (and a little bit of the Toasty boss fight (; ) for my command blocks and such, thanks!
Oh, and we probably should continue in PMs, I don't want people to just keep scrolling for hours through our conversations XD
Just a small update; still got a lot to do on this. I was stuck on Toasty's interior area for a while now, but I think I got it sorted out, so I can continue working on this semi-regularly. It's not perfect, but it'll do.
Most of the exterior and all of the (normally accessible) interior is finished now!
I'm not sure about the exterior pillars, but the interior and exterior is conflicting and they're how I'm covering it up, so there's not much I can do about it. And as usual, I can't get over how tacky gold and diamond blocks look, so I'm probably going to replace a few of those.
What's left to do is:
-A few outer towers
-The big tower in the middle of the castle
-A lot (and I mean a lot) of unused space to fill with houses, buildings, and so on. These include inside the castle and a gigantic underground area, along with all the towers...
-Notebooks/lore/etc
-Touch-ups like mobs and flags, any gliding speed boosts or whirlwinds necessary.
-And, if I can think of something silly to do with Toasty, command blocks for that.
So, a lot left, but the hard part is over I think. Most of the building phase is pretty much done.
As for the 1.12 update, I'm either going to go through the maps and see if I can make them a bit more colorful once I finish with Toasty, or I'm going to release Toasty and have the colorful update separately (as in, before I start building Sunny Flight). I kind of planned on having this level out before that update. Whoops.
Got some more done today. All that's left of exterior building is the cliffs around the castle and the outer towers. If I work again tomorrow, I'll be done with that then.
Still not happy with those pillars. And that center area looks a bit less silly, but it no longer matches with the walls, but the gold matches with the quartz. *sigh*
Side note: I tried to use yellow terracotta but apparently placing it vertically is a nightmare. I just could not get the bottom left corner. This bodes well.

I believe this would mark the end of Toasty's exterior building.
Now onto the new interiors! Now, what sort of story could a huge castle with only one dragon living in it have...
