So I'm on an ambitious process of creating my own circa-1998, mid-sized city. So far, I've mapped out some city blocks and created the basic facades of several generic buildings.
My plan for this city, among other things I haven't thought of yet, is:
to have a significant streetcar system and a basic subway network
to have an expansive sewer system
to have at least 5 districts - Uptown, Downtown, two expansive suburbs, and a university district
to have a river or two running through the city
to have a few landmarks to distinguish this city from others
to have a forest surrounding the whole thing when its done
I'm running on vanilla Minecraft 1.8 and using the Modern HD texture pack. I'd appreciate your inputs/suggestions on how I can make this better. I'm not aiming for a skyscraper city, though I might add a few taller buildings around 15 floors for the downtown area.
Because of coding issues on this forum (mostly because I'm a dumb ass and IDK why my coding always ends up wrong), I'm moving all updates and pics to an external site, you can visit my progress blog by clicking on the link below.
Hey Ik you have already made progress on this map but I was wondering if you'd like to build on my city map? If not thats ok but I really hope you decide to join me with this project. Cheers!
Nice! I like the fact you aren't building huge skyscrapers. In reality, they look cool but really aren't realistic for Minecraft. So far it looks great though, very 1998-ish haha.
Wow looks awesome! I thought about making that look and with all the features of your city awhile ago, weird... well it kinda looks like some smaller parts of NYC. Please put a download up soon, and if you need any help just let me know!
I added a new building and filled in another city block. You can view the pics in the first post (spoilered)
OfficialBearMC:
Sure, I'll try to help out if I can.
Muckdogred :
I tried to build a modern-ish skyscraper city like the one in Mirror's Edge, but then I lost interest and ditched the project. This seems a bit more manageable.
AussieTiger:
I'm looking forward to having it downloadable once its finished.
MineLabsMC:
Thanks! I made the banner myself with Ms Powerpoint. Apparently, it's not only good for slideshows.

Figured it was time for a change.
