Not bad at all for a first attempt. I also think it'll look a bit better if the water goes in - I guess from the look of it that the water level is supposed to be about halfway up the hull? At least, it looks like it needs to be for your propellers to be underwater. With the water there, it'll look less of a big 'block' and a bit sleeker.
I think ultimately the tricky thing to get right with ships that makes a massive difference is getting a realistic hull shape. People new to shipbuilding tend to start with fairly geometric shapes, usually a square-sided hull with a bit of a triangular bow on the front. It makes a rough approximation of a hull shape, but it's really quite far from the truth.
I've got a couple of screenshots in this spoiler to show what I mean. Two ships that I've built - a 74 gun 3rd rate ship of the line (sailing ship circa ~1770) and the steel battleship HMS Dreadnought (1906)
Hopefully they give a good idea of the complicated shapes that ships' hulls can take. With modern ships, they'll often be fairly square-sided for a good portion of the middle, but the bow and stern are usually quite different to how people tend to build them in minecraft. A good bit of shaping at the bow and stern can go a long way towards a good looking build and making it look more 'real'.
Probably the best thing you can do to get a good shape is to use photos of real ships as a reference and try to recreate what you see.
its not that bad. by the way, how do u make the image look big instead of making it an attachment?
To do that you need to upload the images to an image sharing website. I use imgur, which is one of the more popular ones. Create an account there and upload your image. Then you can get the image url and put it in your post - either use the Insert Image button or put the url between bbcode [img] tags. Imgur will let you copy the url with the [img] tags already attached, so all you need to do is paste it into your post.
Man, you've progressed so much from when you first started, now it looks great. It just comes to show what you can do if you take suggestions from other people.

A lot of these builds of boats look great so anyone who has posted a picture of a boat I suggest opening the spoiler to check out the building team!
If you would like to apply to join BigBoiBuilding, a professional building team with the best builders and redstoners around, please click this link. We mainly build minigames so be prepared to have some fun too.
Anyways, the boat looks pretty nice. However, I think it needs to be a bit more curved instead of a square with a triangle. Just my two cents. Anyways, good luck!
i dont know how it only lets me upload it to twitter, facebook and google plus.

I look forward to seeing the updates.
mine is nothing compared to yours.
You'll get better with practice. Most minecraft shipbuilders improve quite a bit over their first few ships as they develop their style.
thank you slender soul
replaced diamonds with planks
guys im sorry i lost my ship i died digging down.
Looks good, but it took you all day? Needs a little spicing up, but it will turn out well.
Here are some of the boats floating around my world.
IMAGE 1 -- "Pirate" ship at sea. Arr matey! Shiver me timbers!
IMAGE 2 -- City Harbour with cruise ship, container ships, fishing boat, sunken boat and aircraft carrier being pulled by a tugboat.
IMAGE 3 -- Navy Harbour with a gunship, submarine, container ship and battleship in drydock.
The cannons on the battleship and gunship fire blaze charges, and you can launch "nuclear" missiles and torpedos from the submarine as well.
Cool. I Liked It.
good job with the size.
however in terms of detail, it needs improvement.
but good job
