I can only speak for myself when I say this, but we need to get rid of hosts, and have dedicated servers. Doing this would address these points.
Lag: It goes without saying that there's a fair amount of lag, and it has to do with the host's internet connection.
Rage quitting: If a host gets beaten in their game and they get angry, then their response is to rage quit the game, which boots everyone from the match.
Getting rid of hosts would solve both of these problems, and maybe even a few others as well that nobody knows about.
