I have noticed a lot of crafters on here having the same problem as me.. When I try to place a mine cart I keep getting the maximum limit message. I sometimes can place a cart on a track at one spot high up past the clouds. I have a map My friends and I have been working on for over 2 years and there is no way for me to find and destroy all the mine carts especially since my friends like to have secret lairs all of the place.
The Minecraft forums say that you can only have 40 mine carts. What if someone played on your server a year ago and had 40 mine carts in there inventory, does that count? What if a player has mine carts in a Ender Chest on your server, does that count?
I don't understand why a game that is about building makes limits on mine carts and paintings. The Xbox one edition can make your map 36 times bigger but then limit the amount of mine carts you have? This game is awesome but Come on, give us our mine carts back. After all this game is entitled Minecraft.
Don't see what the name of the game has to do with the carts, but ok. The only minecarts that the game counts are ones that have been placed on rails. Inventory items don't count.

Then why would the message appear when there aren't any carts on a rail?
I just recently built a sky railroad across five maps in xbox one's newly sized worlds on survival mode (hard). as of the newest update i was able to traverse via mine cart.( Note: I had explored many of the abandoned mineshafts whilst being able to traverse my rail.) After the update i was not and received the message that the maximum number has been reached. this has nothing to do with 'secret lairs'. This is a new bug brought in by the new patch. and it just so happened to render my building project of two days useless.
Because there are probably some carts hidden elsewhere. Like you said, your friends have secret lairs.
My friends do not have secret lairs, I think you confused me with someone else. I know every block of rail in my world and the only carts on rails are the ones either myself or friends are using. So that maxes out at 8 at a time, which has yet to occur, at most, it's 3 at a time.
So you're argument is that there are 32+ carts just laying around on rails that I did not put down? Is the minecart limit a new addition as I have never had this problem before. Seems silly to think there are that many Minecarts on rails randomly placed, when the limit is just a few away. Poor programming if that is the case.

I agree that this is a new bug that came with the patch. I really wish Minecraft would fix this problem asap. They should not put a limit on minecarts in the first place. If so give the player an option to delete all minecarts or something.
to those wondering about the minecrarts, supposedly chests in mineshafts now generate as minecart chests, which count towards the limit.
So if you are playing on the biggest map size you need to find all the minecarts and destroy them before you can place one that you actually want? They need to fix this!
Sounds like the problem is haphazard minecart placement, not a low capacity issue.
Personally, I pick up my Minecart off the rail once I get where I need to go, unless I plan on going back on it in the near future. Might be something to consider.

lol Fair enough!
If I may inquire, where did you get this information?
Honestly.... Comments like this are what I'm getting my information from.... Lol.
