Trust Players: off, ask a mod or host to have all of your abilities turned
on.
Mob Griefing: on
Show Gamertags: off (for your benefit. hide your base, it reduces
drama)
Schedule: very close to 24/7, on at all times, even when I'm
asleep or at work, only goes down briefly in the morning around 6 or
7 am CST for cool down to avoid overheating.
Why you may like this map: you may like a server that you can jump
on and play at any time, if this is the case then this is the server
for you.
Rules: Some of these rules may seem
complex at first but don't sweat over them. The standard: "no
griefing, stealing, unlawful pvp, etc." are still the core rules
of this seed, the others are specifically tailored to the optional
features we've constructed. If you want to play pure survival as
you've always played it; don't worry about joining a guild or being a
merchant.
Skin Lock Rule:
Carefully choose a skin at Spawn, keep it for the rest of the server life. If you absolutely
have to change your skin, message Mod or Host to let them know what
skin you will be changing to. When you see the special features on
this server you will understand why this rule is in place. If someone
is already using a skin you cannot use it! We are setting this rule
because we want the benefits of having "show gamertags" off
(hiding your base) whilst still being able to identify players by
appearance.
Major Violations:
Griefing: This includes seed generated buildings, player
builds and crafted blocks: bookshelves, enchantment tables, anvil,
etc.
Murder and Attempt at Murder:
Killing or attacking players indiscriminately. You may kill
in self defense or if someone has entered your base without
permission. If someone accidentally breaches your base via mining
and you kill them, you must give their stuff back. Killing a villager
is still murder, if you accidentally agro an iron golem let us know.
Theft: Stealing anyone's items. If a chest doesn't have a sign that reads “public” you
shouldn't be rifling through it. If you witness someone's death via
mobs or unfortunate accident, try to return their items.
Hoarding Livestock: Keeping more than two of each species for extended periods of time. There's
no benefit in terms of drops from having more than one to slaughter
at a time since each can only breed once a day.
Hoarding Pets: Keeping more
than one of each species. We should allow all players the option of
having one of each, the spawn rate is very low if you hoard them.
Destructive Farm Practices:
Gleaning crops or felling dozens of trees without any attempt to
replant. If you want to make a clearing in a dense area, hold on to
the saplings and plan to re-plant them later. If you don't have
room, give them to a mod, the host, or place them in a chest labeled
“re-plant” or something to that effect.
Lewd Speech, Writing, and/or Behavior:
Includes sexual talk on the mic, writing on signs, in books, or via
blocks set down. Also includes gesturing in-game to imitate sexual
acts.
Minor Violations:
Landscape Marring: Jump-stacking blocks to mark a certain
area or for no discernible reason. If you wish to mark an area,
stack wooden fence posts, cobblestone posts or make a detailed
pillar. Don't pour water or lava over things excessively.
Message Feed Clogging:
Clogging the game message feed by repeatedly attempting to sleep in a
bed when it's blatantly obvious no one is near one. Also includes
any other method available in the future (via updates) that may clog
the message feed.
Glitch Exploitation: Using
the X-Ray Glitch, Duping Glitch, or any other glitch that drastically
alters the challenge of the gameplay.
Features:
Message Board: This server
has a message board you can access online, address will be on a sign
at Spawn. (swanky feature, I know)
Player Class: By default your player class is 'denizen' but you can have
multiple classes. A guild master can be a merchant, for example.
Merchant system: This is not a currency system but rather a system that
encourages trading by making it safer. There are vendor stalls built
in the villages that have an ender chest behind the counter. If it
has a sign that says "status: inactive" you may message me
requesting to become a merchant. I will provide you with an ender
chest that you place in your secret base. Place the goods you want to
sell in your ender chest. Now those wares are accessible from your
stall. Place signs showing your GT on the stall, merch you're
sellling and what you want to charge (stacks of iron are recommended)
Example: 32 string for a full stack of iron. You may set the price as
steep or as low as you wish, adjust for scarcity and availability
respectively. You don't have to be at your stall at all times, that would be boring,
people will message you when they want to buy something and you can
meet them there. Mods are already merchants from the server prep
phase and they're ready to sell items to new players for decent
prices to help them establish themselves in the world.
Guilds:
There are guild towers in each corner of the world. These are bedrock
insulated with aesthetic walls on the interior and exterior. They are
3 stories high with an ender chest and treasure on the top floor and
all have only one entrance. Basically they are strategically designed
so that no one can mine in from the floor or from any other side,
there is only one entrance in that can be guarded by you or by
someone else. When the guild tower is inactive the entrance will be
sealed by bedrock. There will be a small structure made of obsidian near the door, if you break it and msg me the number on the name tag, you will then own the guild. Next
time the server comes up from cool down I will go into Creative with
the server offline and unseal the guild tower for you. The guild
master is the leader who may add members or kick members out of the
guild, she/he also gets the treasure on the top floor; a randomly
enchanted piece of iron equipment. Guild members will be listed in
front of the towers as well as publicly on the server's message
board. Any guild member can request that the guild tower be sealed by
bedrock next time the server comes up from cool down. Members are
allowed to pvp any non-member that enters the building or comes even
within two blocks of the door. You may keep whatever they drop.
Obviously non-members are not allowed to loot chests in a guild
tower, kill a guild member for no explicable reason, etc. All of the
normal rules apply. Each guild can only have 1 mod/judge as a member.
Suggestion: try to make a banner for your guild, even if it is a
simple design or even a solid color.
Prestige Classes: While 'guildmaster' is a class in and of itself, the guild members can also
choose from a variety of special classes and then get an equipment load-out (kit) via giving me a number from a name tag in the labeled chests. There are 5 total: Barbarian, Ranger, Paladin, Warmage and Rogue.
Warring Guilds: A guild master can declare war on another guild but she/he
must make said guild and the host or a mod aware of it. The
declaration of war will be made public on the server message board.
The guild members cannot loot from the other guild towers but may
kill the opposing guild member and take whatever they drop. This is
why the SKIN LOCK RULE IS IMPORTANT. Don't change your skin or you
will be kicked, especially if you are participating in this aspect of
the server!
To Join:
send a message saying "MythCraft" to Moritsune1984 and I'll add you. I want to know you came from the forums as I usually get better players from here.
I've noticed a lot people joined the server when it first started and now the activity level has been next to nothing lately. I suppose I should consider that it may be because of the spring break vacation. Just in case I'm doing something wrong I'm not aware of I want to make it clear in this space that I want to have 'more of a democracy than a dictatorship.' So lets start a little voting system on this thread. Anyone can say something like: "I vote we turn gamertags on" (or anything else you'd like to change) and then everyone votes either "yea" or "nay." The one thing I'm really passionate about and wouldn't want to budge on is texture packs. While I realize it takes some time to get acclimated to a new texture pack, the pay off is more than worth the initial annoyance, as the possibilities for the different types of builds you can do is expanded threefold. The theme of my servers (with this seed as the first) is the appreciation of different cultures and their beliefs, the power of myth and how it resonates with us on the collective unconscious level, so going forward there will be servers titled "Mythcraft B.C.E." (Greek Mythology texture) "Mythcraft A.D." (Norse Mythology texture), and Mythcraft: Adventures in the Far East (Chinese Mythology texture.) We will alternate through these three and after some time the players (as well as myself) will get used to the different build styles that can be done in them.
But other than that please try to voice whatever you don't like about the server and how you'd like it to be changed and then people can vote "yea" or "nay." If I get an overwhelming response in one direction I will change w/e it is. As a host I'd much rather have many people play on the server and really feel like it's OUR map, not exclusively mine.
