There is a legend passed down through generations that speak of a group of outsiders cast from their homes and into a world unknown. It is told that this group was torn from their realm and placed in another; a direct response to war crimes the heroes were not responsible for. This undeserved exodus left them stranded in the middle of a dimension completely separate from their own; uncharted and dangerous. With no supplies to aid them, the heroes banded together to build a haven, but more importantly; to possibly find a way home.
As time progressed, it became more and more apparent that this group was not alone in the world. Nightmarish creatures poured forth in the black of night, craving the flesh and souls of those who were not akin to the hellspawn. On the opposite side of that, the group began finding others like them, cast from their worlds and into this one. As more and more people were found, they shared their stories with the group of heroes. It did not paint a pretty picture, but the speculating group began to believe that something was purposely ripping people from their personal realities and bringing them here. The only difference between the original group and the newcomers was that only those of the original group were all from the same world. All of the others were from places far across space and time.
Of course, not everyone the group came across was of the friendly disposition. Openly hostile sets of people began appearing in the world, as though in direct opposition to the group of heroes. These people pulled to the northwest and began calling themselves the Tristram. Without mercy or warning, the Tristram swept through the land, decimating most of the heroes' group and laying to waste their fields and structures. After the slaughter, only a handful were left, aside from the heroes. All that remained of their hard work and personal triumphs were burning remains and bodies.
It was in this moment that the leader of the heroes, Sebastion, gritted his teeth and decided to break an oath he had made years ago. Bringing the group together, he declared that it was time to cast aside their passive ways, for war was coming to this new land. In a bold move, the group elected to re-establish an old society long since forgotten; the FrostFang group. This name represented a select company of highly skilled warriors dedicated to war, and also justice.
With their numbers lowered and their place ruined, the group moved on to a new area and began scouring the land for more people to aid them in the inevitable battle that would ensue. Never again would they watch their fellow men be slaughtered. Never again would they allow such evil to go unpunished. Never again would the FrostFang name be forgotten.
Which side will you fight for? How far are you willing to go to get out alive? What force is pulling the strings behind this series of events? Only time will tell. Only you can find your own answers.
This is the legend of the Winter War.
More information to come soon regarding structure, applications, jobs, the plot, and so on.
Also, I'm looking for mature, experienced people to participate. With that being said, only those above the age of 18 will be permitted access. (Unless you carry yourself well for someone younger)
Alright, now to take care of concepts, structures, and all those other technical goodies.
First of all, let's handle the rules.
1. You must have a mic AND be a somewhat talkative person - There's nothing worse than being in a party with people that say absolutely nothing the entire time. 2. Be respectful - I get it. You want to let people know that you're your own person and yadda yadda yadda, but if someone is showing you respect, give it in return. There are always diplomatic ways to handle problems. And no one likes to play with a *****. 3. Griefing, to an extent, is permitted - This falls in with the story itself. FrostFang and Tristram are enemies, and enemies troll one another. That doesn't mean surround someone's house in TNT and then detonate it. That's just wrong. Do something creative, like lure a Creeper into the compound. I dunno. 4. PKing is permitted - This also falls in line with the story. Killing other players is part of the overall feel of this world. You can capture enemies, lead your group to ambush unsuspecting enemies, and so on. If an opponent kills you and they pick up your stuff, that sucks for you. 5. Excessive swearing won't be tolerated - Pretty much everyone that ends up participating in this world will be over the age of 18. With that being said, there are better ways to articulate your thoughts than to preceed everything with a swear. Sure, we're all going to swear at one point or another, but don't take it to the extreme. 6. For serious role-players only - Meaning if you have an issue with being in character, this is not the place for you. 7. Try not to have the same skin as anyone - It just looks stupid if we have six Master Chiefs running around. 8. Maps are strictly prohibited - The ability to disable seeing other players on the map seems to have vanished with the update, so upon entering the world and finding your faction, hand over your map to the faction leader. Maps offer too many unfair advantages for both sides, and would ultimately be the creator of a stalemate. If you are caught with one, you will be removed.
This section deals directly with the mechanics of the world itself, and what that means for the players in the world.
1. The world is virtually untouched - By this, I mean that the world will be a brand new seed, uncharted by me or anyone else. This is mainly due to the fact that the beginning of the RP directly follows the intro. So, FrostFang has nothing and needs to rebuild everything from scratch. And Tristram is in the process of finding a place in the northwest to settle down and build. This gives everyone an equal chance to contribute to the architectural design of their city/village. 2. Jack of All Trades - I want this to be fun for everyone. Assigning jobs and then telling people they can only do THAT ONE JOB isn't fun for anyone. Maybe you want to mine. Maybe you want to chop down a tree. Hell, maybe you want to bake some damn bread. Go for it. 3. It Takes a Village - There will be no currency system in this game of mine. Everyone helps everyone in their village. You can offer to trade materials, or if you're feeling nice, you can just give it to whomever needs it. In a world on the brink of war, no one has time to go to the bank, so why should we care? 4. Separate channels - I will be leading the FrostFang group with the character Sebastion. But, I will choose someone else to run Tristram. Since the concept of war relies heavily on your enemy not knowing your tactics, the people in FrostFang and the people in Tristram will usually be in separate Xbox LIVE parties. This gives the illusion that the enemy stays in the dark. Of course, I'm open to suggestions for better ideas. Especially during bits in which you come into contact with opposing groups. 5. Spoils of War - Upon killing an enemy player, you are definitely allowed to pick up their fallen gear. The same can be said about leading a successful attack on an enemy encampment. If you capture an enemy post (by killing everyone there) by all means, help youself. 6. For Every Action - Going hand in hand with the above concept, do not assume your actions have no consequences. Most likely, the person you kill will be gunning for you, and will do whatever it takes to send you a message. The same goes for alliances you hold with other players. Trust is a fragile thing, so be careful. 7. Colors - Each group will have their own personal colors to place up similar to flags using colored wool. FrostFang, for example, will most likely be blue and white. I dunno. The leader of Tristram (as to be determined) will choose their colors. 8. Defecting - As is common with conflicts, players are able to switch sides during the game. However, this can only be done in certain ways including, offering something of value to the enemy leader, killing someone in your own faction, and so on. Be creative when defecting. 9. Many Voices - Story-telling is an art, and in this case, a group effort. Everyone has the ability to contribute to the story, and if they so choose, ultimately change it. There is no set endgame, nor a predetermined victor. So how this plays out depends heavily on the choices made. 10. New World Fools - Remember, as the first concept says, this is a world untouched. This means that there is no way your character willingly traveled here, grew up here, or has been here for years. It just isn't possible. This realm is completely separate from everything in the universe. It also means that there is no way you could have encountered Tristram as a child, seeing as to how it has only existed for a short period of time. The only way you could have had any dealings with FrostFang is if you are from the same world as my character, Sebastian. As of now, there is no one like that. Keep that in mind when writing your bio. IF YOU DO NOT JUSTIFY HOW YOUR CHARACTER ARRIVED IN THIS REALM, YOUR SHEET WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY DENIED WITHOUT THE OPTION TO TRY AGAIN. 11. Return to Dust - Due to the increase of people that apply only to wind up being inactive, I have decided to implement a new concept. Remember, the story can only progress if there are people to play it. Long absences make it harder for others to do what they have to. So, to avoid such situations, players that are approved but end up being inactive without reason will be killed off in the story. Should they choose to play again, they will once again have to go through the application process. 12. Major Plot Devices - Every now and again, something significant will happen in the story that changes everything. Be sure to skim through this entire topic and find the story posts before creating a character sheet. It will keep you up to date with what's actually going on. Here they are in order. (See post #212See post #380See post #412See post #620.)
Hierarchy Diamond/Chain Mail Armor + Diamond Sword - Available for use only by the leaders of the factions. Not only is it a status symbol, it places the leaders where they should be, in the position of the most physical power. Should something happen and a leader is to drop their Diamond gear, whomever recovers it is to turn it over to their faction leader.
Gold Armor + Gold Sword - Available for use only by the second in command of each faction, as to be determined by faction leaders. Gold, however malleable, is second to Diamond in Minecraft, which makes it a great status symbol for the right hand men. Should something happen and a General is to drop their Gold gear, whomever recovers it is to turn it over to their faction leader for re-distribution.
Iron Armor + Iron Sword - Available for use by everyone else. Unlike Diamond and Gold, if Iron gear is acquired by someone after the death of its original owner, that gear is able to be used by whomever acquires it.
Now, this hierarchy set applies ONLY to armor and weapons. Tools of all classes can be used by everyone.
Applications DO NOT send me friend requests on Xbox LIVE until your application AND character sheet have been approved. I will gather all of the approved people and post their names every now and then.

Here is some friendly advice from my most trusted Winter War associate.
Everyone else reviewing your application is already accepted and just offering advice. We can't guarantee that you'll make it in based on our review of your application. However, if we see something wrong with it, chances are high Shifferin will see the same thing wrong with it.
That being said, this is a fantastic server and a lot of fun, so I suggest trying your hardest when applying the first time (a two sentence biography isn't going to get you accepted, it's going to make you look lazy). We want to see an actual effort that says you want to play; a character biography that has depth.
Also, note to follow the story. I know it's a lot to read, but you can't make a biography and pretend you've read it. It's very easy to distinguish between those that have read it and haven't. If you need help/guidance on how to create a character, you could try reading some of the accepted applications (GalacticCarpet, AnAsianBro, IdealogicPanda, Red, YayGiraffes, CrimsonRain, IckyLotus, Aztec). DON'T copy the biographies/ideas from these applications.

Character Name: Tanis
Title: Uuuuh, I never had one? I guess we could go with Captain Tanis of the Starship Enterpr.... er, the Starship Improvise
Gender: More manly than most Starship Captains
Specialty: Boldly going where no man has gone before
Affiliation (FrostFang/Tristram): Honestly, I thought about this and I could go either way. If I MUST choose for myself, I'll go Tristram but read my bio and tell me if you think Frostfang is better.
Personality: Bold. Cunning. Decisive.
Biography: Far from home, the Starship Improvise was making it's maiden voyage to a planet with known intelligent life. Captain Tanis sat on the bridge, watching the viewscreen as the ship made it's descent into orbit. From their, his science officer relayed him all the necessary information for a ground reconnaissance. Apparently, the people were in the medieval era, and were at constant war with eachother. Not something Tanis was unfamiliar with; after all, he DID fight in the Second Suppression War that dethroned a tyrannical lunatic and prevented the collapse of galactic relations with other cultures. In the transporter room, Tanis and two red shirts beamed down to the surface to observe a battle happening in the immediate vicinity. No sooner than their arrival was their impromptu capture by a group of men, apprently lying in wait to ambush the enemy faction, and whisked away to a large castle. The red shirts were unfortunately slain in the process, due to their inadequete strength and intelligence. Stripped of his communicator and fantastically cool sci-fi laser pistol, Tanis was in a bad way. After being branded an enemy spy he is thrown in prison. He had not been gone long enough for any sort of search party to be sent after him. Perhaps this is why all the Starship Field Manuals say that the captain should never go down with the away team. Hours later, the captain is retrieved from his cell and told, "Your punishment has been decided. Death by beheading." Of course Tanis resisted, but to no avail. He was beaten until he could no longer muscle up the strength to fight back. The large hooded man drags him to the chopping block, and raises his axe. Tanis closes his eyes, and hears the hefty tool thrust at him. But then, nothing. No pain. No sound. Not even the cheering of the masses. He opened his eyes and no longer was he in shackles surrounded by the people who cried for his death. He had awoken in a strange land the likes of which he had never seen before. He would try to find a way home, but first he had decided to seek out shelter, and perhaps others of this world. But this time, he would be cautious. Careful. And above all else, he would be ready to defend himself against whatever threat be it man or beast.
I have my reasons for accepting the few I let in. And when I say quantity, I was referring to the length of your bio. Please, before you attempt to argue with me, at least be on the same page. If you want in so badly, simply revise your character sheet. It isn't difficult.
