I had built something that takes 4 pistons to rotate some blocks and was working perfectly so I went on to work on another project for about an hour and came back to it and one of the pistons are gone and I am no longer able to place the piston their or any block for that matter back in its place... Ok thats the most recent crummy thing to happen. But I went to log on after a year and a half building a theme park and idk how many hours of work and it loaded a nether that is completely blant!!!!!! The frustration strait up made me so mad that I didn't touch Minecraft for 6 months... Is there any way to get it back??????
Sorry to tell you man, there is no current confirmed way to get rid of these blocks.
I can tell you, however, how to avoid this happening again. This is a reported bug, it happens when a piston is unloaded in the same gametick it is extending. The block becomes invisible and turns into block 36. It used to be that tnt would destroy it, but several updates ago 4j changed it so that tnt cannot destroy block 36, and a wither can't either. But, if you always put some kind of switch to turn everything off when you leave an area or log out this will never happen again.
