Hello my name is John and I just started to play Minecraft for xbox 360 a few days ago and really having trouble finding diamonds.Is there certain level underground you have to look for diamonds?if so how do I tell if I am at the right level to dig?I really enjoy the game very much but just getting frustrated since I been looking for diamonds and no luck so far.Any help would I would be very grateful for.Thank you for reading this
Diamonds generate at y12 and below. You can figure out what level you are on by looking at your map. The center number indicates vertical (y) level. The number displayed is the level your head is in, so if the map displays y13 you are standing on y11. Lava lakes generate at y10, so normally what I do is dig down to y12 on the map and dig a 1 x 2 tunnel till I find diamonds, at that level its rare to run into lava that you cannot bridge over easily, if i run into the edge of the map I turn around, move two blocks over and mine my way back.
Diamonds generate one vein per chunk (16 x 16) between y0 and y12, and a vein can have between 2 and 8 (inclusive) ores in it. Make sure you mine them with an iron pick.
Console versions work basically the same as java version, except for the limits on everything. There are some major differences on the technical side, but your probably not concerned with that yet.
