Last night in an attempt to build an iron golem farm I trapped my villagers in their houses. I usually have a block in front of their door so they can not get out. While i was mining all my villagers disappeared that were trapped. I thought maybe a baby zombie could get over the block but not in houses that had blocks on the step making it two blocks tall. I also had a villager disappear in the blacksmith house and that had a block in the doorway and a block on the outside of the doorway at head height. Everywhere is lit up too inside the houses. Is there any bugs I do not know about?
Zombie seiges can happen at any light level, as long as your close enough to the village. If you were mining near the village its possible that zombies got them. Are the doors still there?
It could also be that lightning got them if there was a thunderstorm. They would all have to be close together (in the same 7 block square) for all of them to be hit by one lightning strike, and the likelihood of multiple strikes getting multiple villagers is extremely low. Since villages are made of wood there are usually telltale signs of lighting strikes, look for missing blocks on roofs.

Weird.
