I wish to make a church and use redstone torches as primary light source. The flooring would be halfslabs, equal to normal block height (as in not stepping up or down)
Would mobs still spawn under those conditions? I have always been confused about certain blocks preventing spawning under low light conditions
Top half slabs will not block spawning, only bottom half slabs. On pc they can use carpet to block spawns, but that don't work for us yet. If you want to keep the floor on the top of the block then put down glass or bottom half slabs or leave blocks and carpet over it.
Mobs spawn on any solid block. This now includes soul sand. As well as top half slabs.
Blocks that block spawns are; glass, magma blocks, bottom half slabs, blocks with any redstone component or dust on top of them, leaf blocks, and of course light source blocks.
Glass with carpet should work, may try torch under glass for added slight light. Bottom slab likely wouldnt work for my application, since stairs for seats would be off.
Only bottom slabs (where you have to step down or up half a block) prevent spawns.
you can put bottom slabs down with carpet over them and the carpet will float over the slab at regular block height and there will be no spawns. And you can still walk on it
