You're definitely not the only one, especially if playing in a world that has no villages. I usually challenge myself on Survival worlds by growing full farms from single seeds, curing zombie villagers, and not mining any lapis or diamond ores until I get Silk Touch or Fortune III picks (which forces me to hunt for diamonds in chest loot to make an enchantment table). Every Skyblock expert can relate with your play style.
I find it ultra-rewarding to get enchanted diamond tools without even visiting a cave.

I did a survival island seed way back when (before jungles). I love making crazy big farms out of the minimum. I also did a skyblock challenge once. You should try it out.
am i the only person that would rather start from 100% scratch as opposed to like a blacksmith shop or sum like that
