The image attached is my railroad crossing system. Ive just need to apply a curcuit that causes the "redstone repeaters (highlighted in red on pic)" to not provide a continuous signal. The gates are highlighted in blue. The "pits connecting both sides (highlighted in white)"are necessary to activate both gates when a minecart comes through.
If I'm looking at this right you need a monostable. Run the redstone dust into a block with a sticky piston facing up under it, and place a repeater on the other side. When the redstone dust is powered the signal will travel through the block and power the repeater, and also the piston, pushing the block out of the way. This will create a pulse on the output of the repeater, the length of the pulse can be adjusted by adding delay to the repeater.
