I am super stoked about the possibility of finding fossils now! Are there any tips or strategies for locating them? Right now I'm just strip mining like crazy at level 45 (that's the sweet spot between -15 and -24 below surface) under my desert biome. Does the size of the biome matter? I've got a small swamp on my map I could also check under.

Right now I'm just strip mining like crazy at level 45 (that's the sweet spot between -15 and -24 below surface) under my desert biome. Does the size of the biome matter? Step 1.) Be under a desert or swamp.
Step 2.) Keep digging.
Step 3.) Find a skeleton spawner.
Step 4.) Grind out bones.
Step 5.) Make your own after failing to find one.

Step 3.5.) get some dogs
Make sure your digging in newly generated chunks, fossils don't spawn retroactivley, meaning they won't appear in chunks generated pre tu43.
