1. Make netherrack pole from bottom of the world all the way to the build height limit 2. Mine it ALL with a diamond efficiency 5 pickaxe 3. Might glitch a little but fly out and look!
THINGS YOU MUST KNOW:
If you go away from it, the bedrock will form again. Bring Feather Falling diamond boots (highest level possible) and some golden apples (so you don't die)
This is my first post and remember to tell me if you need help.
Iv broke a few thousand bedrocks from my world in vanilla surivival, the two methods I use are, 1. Dropping my dragon in lazy chunks, this method was shown by "Redstonespire" last year and has worked per tu32, if you want to check it out the video is called " gravity affected blocks in lazy chunks" 2. The second method is for more intricate bedrock removal, and it uses the update order of tile ticks and headless sticky pistons. This method was shown my "Myren Eario" and can remove bedrock from any position, not just above but underneat and from the side... I use these methods for forming wither cages. : D
I attempted the lazy chunks method at varying heights. The egg either fell as it should, the redstone bugged out and remained powered, or everything bugged out resulting in the piston being both extended and retracted while the egg fell, but was visible in the resting position on the piston arm.
You must have been still within render distance, you have to be at lease 16 chunks away (256 meters) away but not outside 18 chunks (288) as we deal with our unloaded chunks differently to pc versions. I have been using this method since Spire showed it and still using it to this day. I'm just thinking of map sizes, what size are 360 maps!!! I of course play xbox1 so and not sure about 360 sizes. From my experiences when the egg remains on the piston arm it means you were outside the 18 chunks and you're redstone signal got unloaded before getting to the egg. But you're attachment shows a funny ghost block anamation, which iv not seen. When it falls as it should then you're still within render distance, 16 chunks. I just bring on 4 stacks of redstone dust and 18 reapers, after 17 reapers that's where I normally just drop it from and has worked everytime...
Thing is, I tried it at various lengths, some going out of render distance and some staying in it, but just barely. As with most things, it probably varies per version.
Hmm that's interesting iv a friend on 360 I must call and test it out myself. On console it will only work in chunk 16 and 17 anything outside 18 doesn't, on pc it does work outside 18 but there chunks are unloaded differently to ours. There is of course always Myren method but that takes awhile to set up of course, Raysworks showed an intersting way to create the headless sticky pistons a little easier lately, instead of going four diagonal spaces away he just spaces two pumpkins in between to make up the blast risistance, it just speeds up the process a little.
It's not a big deal for me as of now. I had a friend use the more complicated piston technique to remove a piece in my survival so I could make a good farm, and I've never really needed to break any other pieces since.
I got the exact same thing as phoenix when I attempted the dragon egg method. It didn't matter if I was only seven chunks away when I activated it there were always weird rendering glitches and no broken bedrock. Tried in survival, creative, with naturally generated bedrock and player placed bedrock. Also tried setting it up and relogging because on 360 chunks don't totally unload when you walk away from them.

I figured this out by messing out with my friend. Photo here https://plus.google.com/117045157031648391559/posts/SVeKdcr2JqJ
