I figured out the problem with missing Villagers; I just needed to put a fence around the Nether Portal. However, now I I have a new problem with another Village.
In this Village that I am taking residence in, there are only Blacksmiths and Librarians. I've tried trading multiple times with each Villager, and I've tried putting more doors on the buildings, I even made another building for them. However, I am only getting Librarians and Blacksmiths! I'm almost out of gold, and I have no more apples (and I'm in a Savannah, so it's a pain in the backside to find oak trees...), so I'm gonna have a hard time in getting new Villagers via Zombie Villager. Is it a glitch with breeding that you only get a certain type of Villager whenever they breed? Or is that the game programming? Because it's starting to become very annoying.
Oh, and when the Villagers breed, I don't see any tiny villagers. I kept on counting the amount of types of Villagers, and the numbers kept increasing, and yet I never saw a single baby Villager. Is that also a glitch?
Why not just build a 1.8 Infinite Villager Breeder?
Unless something changed/ got bugged villagers should breed when they're Inventory changes. This means either a.) trading with them, or b.) throwing food at them. That's how the Infinite Breeder works: the Farmer harvests the crop (I use potatoes) and shares with the other villager. Since both their inventories change they go into love mode.
Edit - You might want to trap a zombie villager and convert it in order to get a Farmer (brown coat). That profession is necessary for the Breeder to work.
If you're not opposed to "cheating" (I'm looking at you UpUp ) save the game before you feed it the apple. If it's not a Farmer, quit the game and try again. The game randomizes the profession at the moment of conversion; it's not a set-in-stone type of thing.
He's got them breeding, he's just always getting the same professions. That's a good tip about curing though. I've got a zombie spawner with dataless' villager trading cells attached to quickly sort out the villager zombies, I might give that a go later. I used to have a villager breeder feeding into a set of cells, but the villagers wouldn't breed, so I've had to change tactics.
I have just built in Infinite Breeder on my Survival world and I'm getting all different professions. Also getting baby villagers. I'm running on TU34 so it might be an issue with the latest update. I'm not going to update to TU35 so confirmation would need to come from somewhere else.
@Phyrian
The reason I suggested the OP make an Breeder is because they were complaining of running low on materials. Infinite Breeders use no resources after the build is complete.
They still breed normally in tu35. If the goal is to have villagers to trade with for food and other resources an infinite villager breeder is definately worth the time and material to build. Rays works has a great design that is scaleable to any size, the baby villagers do not get stuck and you can effectively turn it off if you stop feeding them. I built one in my tu31+ world and it works better than any other design I've tried.
Okay, so maybe they don't breed normally. I'm experimenting with villages right now and I can't get an infinite breeder to work on the world I just created. Its like the detector villager doesn't pick up the doors. I moved 70 blocks away and made an iron golem spawner and got a golem in less than 30 seconds. I then added 10 more vilagers and got two golems. But the infinite breeder doesn't work. Yesterday I had an infinite breeder going in the end and it was making villagers (did you know that villages currently work in the end and on top of the nether?), and the day before I got new villagers in my trading post on my survival world. So my conclusion is 4j broke it, and I'm sure they're working in it and hopefully the next update brings some consistency.
