I am very new to playing minecraft , I have watched my boys play this game for the last 1 1/2 years and bought it for them for the xbox 360 2 weeks ago , since that time I have become interested in this game and started to play it , but as with everything you're just learning it takes questions to know what you're doing . My Question is this I have searched the normal minecraft map on my game no mash ups mixed in and have not found a village or any people at all and I mean I searched everywhere , then on youtube I heard about the rare village under the sea so I made a boat to go check this possibility out and shiver my timbers there she lay at the bottom of the sea in a deep underwater ravine, the only reason I saw it was because this white thing hit me with a purple lite that did something to my guy and then I saw the sea lanterns under the water .Here is the problem I can't get to it I run out of air and have to resurface before I ever get close to it and that white thing keeps attacking me .. Help is much needed ..

That's not an actual village, but rather an underwater monument. Since you are a new player, I recommend that you keep your distance from these for a while until you learn how to play as they can be a bit of a challenge, even for an experienced player. if you want normal villages on land, your best bet is to generate another world until it gives you a village. They are pretty frequent, so you should not have an issue finding a seed with a village on it.
I recommend that you go to the top of this Minecraft forum page here and click on the button that says "wiki", which is one of the links in the green bar at the top. The wiki should be able to give you all the answers you need as it has a pretty good guide that is perfect for new player's such as yourself.
I haven't tackled one of these yet (playing on an old map made before they were added), but there should be lots of info. on the forums about them.
At the very least you're going to want water breathing potions, boots enchanted with depth strider, a helmet enchanted with aqua affinity and respiration and probably some night vision potions as well. Good luck.
