seeing as most structures in the world have a different surface texture and color on the inside wall than the outside wall it would be helpful in building structures if we had the ability to make each side of a given block a different texture/color. So, for instance if I was building a wall to a house I might have brick on the outside surface of the wall but wood for the inside.

I support this idea too! Iv'e wished for an addition like this too many times.
How about... sideways half slabs? that would double as this.

Sideways slabs would create an even create problem. I support this idea, but I'm also wondering how this would even work
An "easy" approach would be the item frame, but when a dye is placed in it it makes a "solid block" of said color, much like how a map looks
