Hello guys, I'm having a really annoying issue with the "Passing the Time" achievement on X360. I play since August 2012, and some months ago after a time without playing I decided to enter and play (it was in May), I noticed the new achievements, I did all, except one, the "Passing the time". I'm totally sure that I have more than 100 Minecraft days played (I have a lot more than it), and now, what I did to try to unlock the dammit achievement.
- Are my worlds on Creative or have they ever been load on Creative? No. Let's continue.
- Entered on a friend's world.
- Cleared Xbox cache. (More than 3 times during all the process)
- Created a new world.
- Uninstalled the Title Update.
- Created another world.
- My friend entered this world.
- Uninstalled the game.
- Created another world.
- Played splitscreen.
What's the result? NOTHING!
I'm really stressed with this, just this achievement is missing to complete all achievements, please help me guys!
It does unlock. It's not bugged. I played in my own single-player survival world just normally and the achievement unlocked after a few weeks. The time to cumulative and only active playing time seems to count, not AFK. Your character has to moving, mining , building, etc. Yes, you can exit and save in order to eat, sleep, etc. IRL. I believe only saved progress counts, so if you exit without saving the time you put in during that session won't get added. Not sure if the time you put in on a friend's world counts since they control whether or not the progress while you were there was saved or not.
What seems to work best is to start construction on a big big build in one of your own survival worlds and just stick with that until the achievement unlocks. Not sure if doing things like clearing your cache resets the clock to 0... didn't clear mine until after the achievement unlocked.
So, if I go to my mining space (a large "room" in layer 4) and lose a lot of hours there mining, is there a chance to get the achievement?
Yes, just keep actively playing right through successive Minecraft days and nights. I've never tested what Cherry_Sparklez mentioned about using beds - I normally don't sleep in Minecraft... just use a bed once to relocate my spawn (by taking a break to sleep, I was meaning IRL, not in game
Ok, i left it running for about 6.5 hrs and it's sitting at 20% complete, assuming the 360 and ONE version record time the same way it's pretty obvious that standing still in an online game will get the achievement in about 35-40 hrs. I'll make it an offline game now and see if that makes a difference.
Edit: Left it running for about an hour offline and it's up to 22%. On the One it doesn't seem to matter if it's online or offline, but if I remember rightly, when you're offline on the 360 the game pauses when the controller goes off? That might make a difference.
My advice: Just don't sleep for 100 days and nights in an online game and you'll get it...
Firstly, thanks for testing this! Can you perhaps just leave it running until the achievement actually pops? (just in case there's something that will prevent it from popping). Most earlier reports on this achievement not popping on the Xbox 360 were assumed to have been because the player was AFK, not because they interrupted the achievement by sleeping in a bed. Another thing to perhaps test would be to sleep in a bed to see if the progress clock on the achievement resets to 0% or if it just stops while sleeping and resumes where it left off afterward.

I already checked my achievements and it's really missing both, the score and the achievement.

I was referring to the progress bar that Cherry_Sparklez has been watching on the Xbox One. As indicated, what has worked on the Xbox 360 (i.e. how I unlocked the achievement) is to play in a single-player survival world (that has never been in Creative mode and in which host privileges have never been activated) and just mine or build, etc. continuously, stopping only when you shut down the game to do IRL stuff. Don't sleep in a bed, muck about with other worlds, don't clear your cache or delete the update or the game. It will take about a total of 33 hours IRL time spent inside the game for the achievement to unlock... although if the progress bar doesn't reset to 0% (as queried above), it might unlock sooner.
play during 100 days (in-game days, which are equal to 20 minutes each day, and 100 Minecraft days are equal to 33.3 hours)
Again, just involve yourself in a big project in a single survival world and the time will pass and the achievement will eventually unlock. It did for me and has for 100s of other people. You'll waste more time trying to get around it by AFK'ing, sleeping in a bed to try to speed up the day cycle, juggling around with profiles and worlds, deleting the game and update, etc. than it would take to just unlock the thing by engaging in steady Minecraft play in a single world. If you already have some credit on the progress bar, it should unlock even sooner.
After letting it run up to 25% complete I went and got myself a bed, slept in it, then set a timer on my phone to go off every 10 minutes so it was late enough to sleep again, did this for 5 nights...and it's gone up to 30% On the Xbox One you CAN sleep through the night and it counts towards the achievement.
Since then I've broken the bed, moved to another area, not slept in it for a couple of nights and it's now at 32%
Apart from moving around to get the wood and wool to build the bed I've not moved at all.
Yes, very interesting results so far. Can't wait to see if the achievement actually unlocks on time.
I'm still trying to get it too. I know I can get achievements still because I just got all the other new new ones like kill the wither and build a max power beacon. It's only this achievement left like always. I have tried leaving my game online and afk for three days strait as well.

Well, Carnival is coming and I'll enjoy the holiday to do this, now I only need to decide what to do!
Thanks to everyone, guys.
