I have the newest update on xbox 360 for Minecraft. I've recently noticed that no matter what it is I attempt to enchant the third and highest level of Enchantment always says unbreaking 3. I'm pretty sure nobody wants unbreaking 3 on a pair of leather boots. Does anybody know if this is a bug or if this is actually what supposed to happen. I think it is a bug due to the fact that I also play on PC and never had this problem before. I believe a patch is in order for this issue.
Try actually enchanting something, even at a 1 Level. After you actually enchant something, the table should reset to offer you a different set of random enchantments. It won't reset again until you actually enchant something else. Refer to the Wiki if you want a more detailed description about what's supposed to be happening (same as PC 1.8.8):
It's working fine for me. The offered enchants do change after I enchant and I remember recently getting an appropriate Respiration enchant on a helmet.
ETA: Another thing to consider is that only one enchantment shows. At the higher levels, you are very likely to get a second and even third one. I have enchanted pickaxes with what was shown as just Efficiency or Unbreaking and wound up with Fortune as well.
this kinda has to do with this, but my enchanting luck is terrible even with the new enchantment system,i never get looting or sharpness on a sword (and thats just wasting my diamonds, and thats not fair!) i always get bane of arthopods or someyhing dumb like that, and its not changing when i put somthing else in, its always bane of arthopods! (sorry for menchanig bane of arthopods over and over again lol)

You actually have to enchant something to get the table to change. For example, if you put a sword into the table, it will offer you 3 enchantments, showing you only the first enchantment (you may get a second and even third and fourth "mystery" enchantment along with the one shown). For example, I just enchanted a sword at Level 30 that showed as "Sharpness IV..." - what I got was Sharpness IV, Looting III, Knockback II, and Unbreaking III.
If you have enough bookcases, it will offer you 1 that will cost 1 XP and 1 Lapis, one that will cost 2 XP and 2 Lapis, and one that will cost 3 XP and 3 Lapis. If you change to a different sword, it will still offer you those same 3 enchantments. If you remove a bookcase, it will still offer you the same sort of enchantments, but the level of each might change (So, for example, instead of offering "Sharpness IV..." at Level 30, it will offer "Sharpness III.." at Level 24. If you put, say, a helmet, in the table, it will offer 3 enchantments appropriate to a helmet; but again only show you the first; so if it shows you, say, "Projectile Protection III..."; you could also get "Respiration III."
The only thing that will fully change the offerings is to enchant something. You can enchant a book, a fishing pole, or any item at all... but you must enchant something in order for something else to be offered for all items. Because the shown enchantments are usually the more common ones, it may not appear as though anything changed. For example, the sword enchants could still show "Sharpness IV..." at Level 30 but what you would get with it will have definitely changed.
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO WASTE YOUR DIAMONDS... all you have to do is enchant books instead to get a full look at the enchants and then use an anvil to apply the books you want to your diamond tools. Since both books and XP are unlimited (and actually lapis is unlimited too since you can trade for it), you can just throw away the books with enchantments you don't ever want to use).
There is also (although I hate to say it) a way to still exit without saving and repeat the process... it just takes 2 enchants instead of 1 to get to that point. IMHO, however, since there are no negative enchantments (i.e. everything improves a tool in some way) and great enchants, like looting are actually common enough, this "exit without saving" is an unnecessary cheat.
I'found the new enchanting system to be quite enjoyable. If an unsavory enchantment pops up for any particular item then just toss in a stone tool or leather armor and go for lv 1. Rinse and repeat until you find your sharpness IV. Plus it gives valid reason to enchant lesser tools and armor.
and everyone seems to forget to point out, you have 10 tries to get a good one before you use up 30 points, compared to before, when you got only 1 chance for 30 points, and it makes staying alive so much more importent, all the time, cuz you always have 27-30 points, at least, to try to keep!

I haven't had this problem. Enchanting on the consoles seems to work just like the PC.
As for the person who's been wasting their diamonds, here's some advice: Stop wasting your diamonds! Enchant a book once in a while.
