So like the title says, I know I'm late to the game and without a new and innovative spin on the Hunger Games map idea, you're all going to shred me to pieces...
BUT...
I'm a mom of two kids (10 and 13) that LOVE Minecraft, so I've taken the time to learn the game. I play with them and I build for them. They're currently really, really, really into Hunger Games maps. So I made a real simple one a few weeks back and they loved it. It was a city theme with all sorts of shops and buildings.
Over the past holiday weekend, I worked on a second map (within the same world as the first) that was a jungle theme. I did a skull cave with a bunch of redstone mechanisms to reveal traps and chests, a jungle temple, a lake with hidden rooms in the bottom and two underground caves with TNT traps and some chests. They spent about an hour playing this one to find all the goodies I'd left for them.
And now they want something bigger but I'm out of ideas for a third theme. I do however have a really awesome idea. Each of the themes is contained within a large wall and has a pathway going to it (iron door so they can't leave unless they die). I'd like to have them start in the City theme, then move to a second theme (the one I still need to come up with) and then to the Jungle theme and finally to an arena. And instead of having a basic tunnel to travel from one theme to the next I want to create an abandoned mineshaft underground that they have to navigate to get to the next stage.
Obviously, they have to set their spawn point once they're at the iron door for the next theme. Can't have them going backwards, or having to get through all the maps to get to the arena.
So, what I really need (TL;DR), is ideas for the third themed map and for the arena. I've already got the mineshafts mapped out in my head, but I've done an arena before and I've got nothing for the third theme.
What kind of materials should I use for the Arena? I want something that will withstand whatever I might toss in there to make it harder (I'm not against building Withers or just randomly dumping lava around the place)
How large should the Arena be?
Theme ideas for a third Hunger Games map? Already have Jungle and City.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated by my kids. They're loving the maps I've come up with so far, but I'm running out of ideas fast.
