Maybe more to this one... I've been counting the granite I mine and I'm coming up way short in my inventory when I check. For example, mined 8, got 2. Could this be the "flying blocks" issue still or does granite sometimes not drop the block by design?
when I mine a block in survival I don't get it if I mine a ore I will just give me xp so yea
Use the right tool or take the game out of Adventure Mode.
At the world border on the Xbox, the block just wouldn't break and he wouldn't get XP at all. Another possibility is that his inventory is full.
What ore are you mining and what tool are you using? Did you accidentally uncheck "tile drops"?
A little more info will go a long way

Turn on tile drops by pressing select and selecting the host options.
If not...use the proper tool.

Items can still go flying through ceilings. I've never mined in TU31 yet, so they very well be shooting through the roof.
