Since the new update, I've been having difficulty taming ocelots, and I need them to keep creepers away from my farm.
I caught a lot of fish, and proceeded to head to the large jungle in my world. At first, I couldn't really find them. I found one, which was tamed using only one raw fish. I searched high and low for a bit, until I found four of them all together at the edge of the jungle, I creeped up to to them, and they all came to me; however, they would not be tamed. The hearts would come up, I'd have to wait for them to go away, and I'd offer some more fish, and the same would happen. Eventually I stood up (was crouching before), and they wouldn't run away, they weren't scared of me. So I gave up with those ocelots.
Found one with a couple babies and managed to tame them, but now NONE will tame. They don't run away, and they won't be tamed, not a single one.
I've left the game, and it didn't change anything, they're still not taming or running away from me.
The player can only tame ocelots under the following conditions:
•The ocelot must be in "begging for food" mode, characterized by it looking at the player and slowly walking near to the player.
•Entering "begging" mode requires that the player is within 10 blocks (Euclidean distance).
•If the player is within 6 blocks, the ocelot will exit "begging" mode if the player turns too quickly or moves more than a tiny distance.
•If the player is within 6 blocks when the ocelot starts begging, it is likely to decide the player turned too quickly and stop begging on the next game tick.
•If the ocelot exits "begging" mode, it won't enter it again for about 15 seconds.
•The ocelot must be within 3 blocks of the player.
When all of the above are met, there is still a 2⁄3 chance the ocelot will take the fish without becoming tame. It's possible to tell the difference between the 2⁄3 failure chance and not meeting the other conditions by whether the ocelot emits smoke particles when fed and by whether it can be fed again immediately.
The newly tamed cat will change to one of three breeds: tabby, tuxedo, or Siamese.
If you fail to tame an ocelot, it will still show heart particles. They will still go into breeding mode, and if there are two such ocelots in the area they will spawn a baby. If two ocelots are tamed and they are still in love mode as cats, they can be bred instantly.
Hope this answers some questions.

I checked that out first, it's still been seemingly impossible.
Some people have probably read this and think I'm stupid, lol. I have four cats, so why not just breed them, right? Well, I'm picky, and all four of my cats are tabbies! Was hoping to add a little variety to my group, love the siamese.
It's not that you're stupid. Ocelots an be tricky to tame. If it's 2/3 chance the fish will tame it, that could take a few fish! And move the slightest bit too much, and they run! If you keep trying and you believe it is a bug still, report it to Mojang's Bug Tracker.

I am quite familiar with taming them! It's just that I've never had such a hard time doing so.
Like, there's definitely something off with them, they don't run away from me no matter what I do, and I've gone through an entire stack of 64 raw fish on a single ocelot and it still failed to tame it. From what I recall, it was never so difficult before the most recent update! At least for me anyways.

I'm speculating here (don't know for sure), but they may have lowered the cap limit on how many tamed ocelots a single player can have.
I wondered that, myself. I didn't think four seemed like a very good number to cap it off at, though I also did manage to tame one more since starting this thread. It was after a couple hours of me being away from my Xbox, sitting in the jungle surrounded by ocelots that I had been attempting to tame; I came back and tried one of them and they surprisingly tamed. Luckily it was a different looking cat, so now I'm not too worried about taming. I'll just breed more of the new cat I tamed.(:
My gf and I are having this same problem, we each have only one cat (the last of which was tamed as a kitten) and we cant tame anymore. There are LOADS of ocelots roaming around but they don't run off when I approach without a fish, and if I try crouching and feeding them a raw fish they just eat it and it show hearts. So there is definitely something off since the update.
I am in the same boat however I do not have any that are tamed. Every time I go them they will not enter the begging mode. I feed them fish and they just get hearts over their head. Don't know what is happening here. All the conditions are being met.
I'm at the same place as Bigk2496: I've followed every step listed above, yet have not been able to tame a SINGLE Ocelot. Before the latest update, I'd had no problem taming them. But now they act weird, eat tons of fish, but never get tamed.
They exhibit behavior similar to what's been mentioned above; they do not seem to be afraid of me, they have entered begging mode, but even after 20 raw fish (the most I've tried on one Ocelot), they never become tame, although they show hearts every time I give them fish. Then, after feeding one cat 20 raw fish, I rushed over to a river, yet despite the fishing pole I have with Lure II, it took me ~6 minutes to catch 2 more fish. Then I RAN back toward where I'd left the Ocelot, & was incredibly surprised not only to find it still right where I'd left it, but it wasn't scared of me at all, not even me charging toward it at full sprint.
Have you reported this as a bug in Mojang's Bug Tracker? If you have not yet, we need to. I really want to have cats in my new world, not just as Creeper repellent, but, dammit, I love cats!
Well, the only Ocelot bug fix for TU32 is Fix for Ocelots not sprinting away from the player.
To be honest I think this could be why they are not taming. Something broke that tells the ocelots to run, but the code that makes them scared still works. So even though we think that we can take them since theyre not running, in reality, they're scared stiff - kinda literally - because of this bug, and not running away.

Hey guys, I got good news... well, if this works for people other than me it will be good news. So, 2 things; I can now tell when they're stuck glitching & when they're not, & also figured a way that allowed me, & will hopefully allow you all, to tame them with ease.
First off, the normal Ocelot taming rules still apply. Then, I found that if I went to the jungle, found an Ocelot, saved & quit, & then reloaded the world, I was easily able to tame them, & they did not glitch. Once too much time had passed since I loaded the world, they would start glitching again. However, saving, quiting, & reloading un-glitched them again.
Next, when they were glitching, I would feed them 1 raw fish, & hearts would appear from them for almost 2 minutes; during that time I would be unable to feed them another fish. Once the ~2 minutes was up, the hearts would stop, I could feed them another fish, & the process would repeat. However, when they were NOT glitching, I would feed them a fish, & some smoke would come out before hearts would. Furthermore, & more distinct, I could feed them raw fish in rapid succession until they were tamed.
I really hope this works for other people, & that this is helpful. I was really excited when I discovered this, so I do not mean to come across as condescending if some or all of this is already known - I'm just really excited to have cats!

Nice observations. You might want to post some of this information on the bug tracker website. There are some bug reports about people not being able to tame ocelots and I'm sure they might appreciate the additional info. It also might help 4J track the bug itself.
It has nothing to do with having too many ocelots! I have ZERO ocelots in my current seed, trying to get at least ONE & I can't tame a single one! I have been taming ocelots for quite some time & am experienced... can't tame a single one now. There is DEFINITELY something wrong with the game & Mojang needs to fix!! Don't you just love how they treat you like you're dumb & have no idea what you're talking about??

Make sure you have raw fish not cooked fish or you need to tame it right when you log in.
