Hello today i have a question. I might get an XboxOne to play the new games but if i buy minecraft xbox360 edition and play it on my xbox one will i be able to play it with my xbox360 friends since i bought the xbox360 edition game? Please tell me if i can cause then i could hopefully play minecraft with my xbox360 friends. Thanks
Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition can only be played with other Xbox 360 consoles on Xbox Live, and the Xbox One edition can only be played online with other Xbox One consoles. There is no cross-platform play with the other editions of Minecraft.
You could try the XBox sections of the forum to see if anybody has any different information.
I don't think the OP can play the Xbox 360 Edition on the Xbox One, but whether his friends could sign into his Xbox One world through Live if they were playing on an Xbox 360. I'm honestly not sure about that... it may be possible; but I think you would have to be playing on an Xbox 360 sized world (862 x 862) since their game would not support anything larger. Again, I'm just not sure about it.
OP: You will have to buy the Xbox One Edition to load on your Xbox One. Perhaps you want to ask the question about cross-platform multiplayer in the Xbox One section of these forums.
The 360 version is not currently compatible with the Xbox One. Technically, it is possible, but I doubt it ever will happen, since the One has its own version, and it can import saves from the 360 version. The worlds on the One can be much larger than those on the 360, so cross-play is not likely to ever come along either.
Sadly no you can't. Sad for me because I gave my stepson my xbox 360 since I got an xbox one and I wish i could play with him to help him out but can't. Hopefully one day they will be compatible. Then his mom is really gonna hate me lol.
Only way it will happen is if the bring out the backward compatibility version of the 360 onto the X1, and only way that will happen is enough of us request it
I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think it is going to happen, no matter how many people request it.
Why? It is up to the developer to decide whether the title should be backwards compatible with Xbox One or not. Since 4J creates and sells both versions of the game, it doesn't make sense from a financial perspective to do so. Think about it... When the Minecraft Xbox One version was released, if you already owned a version of Minecraft on the Xbox 360 you only have to pay $5 to upgrade your 360 version to the Xbox One version. Making the 360 version backwards compatible makes them no additional money.
There's always hoping though, so it doesn't hurt to let your voice be heard.
I am going to have to say you can, since my son was playing multiplayer with his 2 cousins, one of which had a One
Unfortunately that is not the case. The cousins may have been playing split-screen on the 360 or the one that has an Xbox One also has a 360.
You cannot play multi-player Minecraft between an Xbox One and an Xbox 360 at this point in time (i.e. April 6, 2016). Also at this point in time the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft is not one of the games that is backwards compatible with the Xbox One.
Hopefully someday cross-platform play will be implemented and we won't have this issue any more, but until then we have segregated playgrounds that we have to play in.
You can't play play between Xbox 360 and Xbox One. You can be friends on Xbox Live but you cannot play between Xbox 360 and Xbox One on any game do to different software and other items. Sorry to all those who want to play inter-console but it's just not possible.

Nope, there's no support for that, sadly enough.
It sounds like the 360 edition can't be run on the XBoxOne

Just testing.
Thanks Guys
If you like Minecraft say I do
I do, no real need to say that, considering we're on the forums, but whatever!
Well, then sir, you should read the following: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/minecraft-discussion/discussion/2542245-nostalgia-freaks

It is only possible if or when the box 360 version becomes backwards compatible on the xbox one.
Until then the only thing you can do is vote for it here and hope Microsoft take notice

Perpetually negative
