Has anyone recently built or watched videos and know the specs for the 4 pillar survival with all the new updates? I would like to build the challenge myself. Can't find any videos for the challenge past 2013.
Example:
Pillar one has 15 blocks of obsidian, 10 blacks of neither rack.. ETC..
Pillar two has 20 blocks of diamond ore, 20 blocks of iron ore... Etc...
Something like a how to would be awesome! IF I can build it I think I will add the new blocks coming in the next BIG update and come up with some new challenges. Willing to collab on ideas for a guide for a how to build your own.
Challenges (taken from videos of 4 pillar and mixed with Sky block challenges and a few of my own added)
- These are based off a superflat world that doesn't have a nether fortress and nether quarts in the nether. See next posts for the details. These are the ones I came up with feel free to tweek for your own build.

16. Mate 10 Pigs

18. Make 10 Chicken
19. Mate 5 Ocelots
20. Mate 5 Wolves
21. Have a dog
22. Have a cat
23. Create a small lake
24. Make 64 Torches
25. Make 64 Stone Bricks
26. Make 64 Brick blocks
27. Make 10 bread
28. Make a cookie
29. Make a Pumpkin Pie
30, Make a Cake
31. Make 10 Mushroom Stews
32. Make 5 snow Golums
33. Make 2 Iron Golums

38. Craft a Enchantment table
39. Enchant your armor
40. Enchant your Tools
41. Make a brewing stand
42. brew all potions (good and bad should be 9 all together on console)
Step 1. This is on the Xbox 360,I also built in a superflat world which doesn't have easily attainable glow stone, a nether fortress, soul sand and Nether quarts. There can be two variations (or more if you want) To this if you 1. build in a normal seed 2. Build in a snow Biome. These will change the need for snow blocks, nether rack blocks, nether quartz ore blocks and Blaze rods/nether wart/soul sand in the chests and pillars. So you can sub whatever you like.
Needed blocks for challenges above
39 Coal
65 Clay Blocks
89 Iron ore
12 Blocks of snow
5 Diamonds
14 Obsidian
10 Gold
325 Sand (or 277 if you have Sandstone in your pillar)
1 Flint (From Gravel)
48 Nether Rack or 12 Nether Brick
51 Nether Quarts ores
25 Redstone dust (photo is wrong, 25 dust is ABOUT 8 redstone ore assuming they all drop 3)
5 Glowstone blocks (keep in mind that glowstone doesn't ALWAYS drop 4 dust so place more then 5)
Step 2. Starting island I have seen these three different ways this is the design I settled on.
Hehe My husband and I's collective creative name is BS'n because of the first letters of our first names. Make a welcome sign on the land under your starting island for a spawn point (this helps with the ability to place lava later.
Three layers high with a chest placed on its own block. Make sure the top layer has at least one grass block. ALL chest are up to the creator, This is how we started ours. The string can be subed with Wool, Jukebox and disks can be deleted if you want.
Middle bottom block is bedrock with a chest directly under it. I have seen Ocelot eggs in this one, we put super OP armor and sword up to you.
20 blocks above ground all pillars are 3 x 3 except the two layers that contain a villager and the spire which is 10 blocks.
Pillar #1 This will pretty much be the same for everyone.
You need 325 Sand for the challenges above, you can add more or less if you want to do something more then required with sand (or do sand stone)
You need 39 Clay blocks
I did this pillar first because it contains the most of one material which made the rest easier.
I added 6 sand to fill in the layer
I added 6 Clay to finish the spire (10 blocks)
At the bottom of the clay put one in the middle of the sand layer to prevent villager suffication lol
The next layer is 4 sand blocks on the corners with fence posts between them on each side. Villagers face should be looking out the fence. I put my Priest in my sand pillar.
Pillar # 2 25- 30 blocks away from Pillar #2 Try and space them all evenly, I used brown clay blocks to make sure the top, bottom and villager lined up on each pillar.
EAZY Same size as the Sand pillar but its ALL dirt. Villager is a Farmer in this pillar.
Pillar # 4 This was the hardest to fill, I have seen a pillar made almost all of Obsidian but really how much do you REALLY need?
Nether pillar, This pillar holds my Quartz ore, nether rack, Obsidian glowstone needed for the challanges. I added Mossy cobble to fill in some of the space that I didn't feel like filling up with the other stuff. IF you have this in a normal world (not superflat) You can do this pillar anyway you want.
Anyway
NEED
14 obsidian
48 Netherrack (or 12 Nether brick)
51 Nether Quartz Ore
5 Glowstone
1 Soul sand
1 Gravel
ADDED
32 Glowstone
31 Obsidian
15 or so Nether Rack
18 Soul sand
18 Gravel
I didn't count the mossy cobble I think it was 18 layers from the soul sand layer to the quartz layers so a couple of stacks.
Keep in mind also you can use glowstone in Potions!
And last but not least Villager is in the Quarts layer
OK so that covers the basics, Now for the 9 chests. Again this up to the creator, There is only four things I know for sure are in the original series and that is 9 Golden enchanted apples, Ocelot eggs, wolf eggs and 4 emeralds. I know that there needs to be a second water source and mycelium in order to make giant mushrooms so here is 4 of the last 9 chests we have. The 4 in the pillars (about 10 layers down from the villager) put whatever in, I used them for Blaze rods and and egg in each pillar. We put way OP diamond armor and sword under the start base.
