I built a nether portal and went to the nether. Turns out my nether sucks it's just one cave with no exits, no mobs, and its tiny. I tried building my portal somewhere else in the overworld thinking that might effect where I start in the nether. But I ended up in the same place. Any suggestions? Tips?

Dig out of the tunnel. When you place a nether portal, it opens up in an area relitive of your location in the over world.
building a new portal will take you to the old portal, unless of course you exceed a certain distance (I can not for sure say what that distance is) try a hundred blocks or so)
if you built our portal near bedrock, then the nether portal will be near bedrock (and possibly under a lake of lava) if you build it up on top of a mountain, it will be a a higher elevation. If you build it in a location where it ends up appearing in the sky, you get a tiny platform under you.
should you reset your nether (with the option available on the home screen) and then use the new portal, it should open up in the new location. Then it will exit from that portal. If you then remove that portal in the over world, you'll exit from the original portal.
