I do know that the chests do. I had found some playing with my son that had horse armor among other things, and we reset it and went back and the chests were in the same place and had the same contents. I've never paid attention to if the other materials had regenerated or not.

Good to know, I dont mind if the entire layout is changed, gives me more of an adventure but if I get the same deal for chests, thats great too for my seed as well. Saves me some wood from making new chests as well
My world is a tu16 world, and it does not have any chests in the nether (that I have found, anyways). I reset the nether after mining most of the quartz, hoping I might get some chests, but no. For those who have found chests in the nether, where did you find them? I have 2 blaze spawners at the ends of paths, and a large tower with nether wort beds and 2 sets of stairs up to the roof, which is ringed with fencing. But no chests anywhere. Are they ever "encased" near the fortress? I've dug here and there, but no luck. If this is the way it is, I'll never have horse armor in this world, huh.
I just reset the nether and seems all it did was revert to the original nether. While that is ok as I got a lot of gold from it and some other decent items, I was hoping I would have had a whole new random nether

Chests are found inside Nether Fortresses, in the "fully enclosed" hallways. These are the hallways that have a nether brick ceiling, not to be confused with the "bridge" walkways that happen to generate through netherrack. The difference is obvious, though, so you shouldn't be confused.
Chests are almost always located at corner junctions. Depending on how the fortress has generated, it is entirely possible that no such junction exist in your map, and hence, no chests. This happens most often if the fortress generates near the bedrock walls.

No, the nature of the terrain in the nether and the basics of the fortress itself remain the same since they are associated with your world's seed (not random). The only time you would wind up with a different nether on reset would be if they did some sort of update that changed the terrain generation code for the nether. The last time that happened was just shortly after they initially added nether fortress and then modified the code to ensure that each fortress would be sure to generate at least 1 staircase with netherwart and at least 1 blaze spawner (this was in response to complaints that, due to the smaller size of the nether on the Xbox 360, some nethers were generating with only very small nether fortresses that did not have these feature.
Thank you very much. I think I'm out of luck. The main staircase tower is up against a bedrock wall, with a bridge walkway in the opposite direction joining up with the rest of the fortress system. Most of it is suspended high over lava. Oh well, it's still a great world above ground.

The square room with the lava-pool in the center is the beginning of the "enclosed" section of the fortress. Any and all chests are found beyond this point.
I've scouted maps where this "lava room" is right up against the bedrock. Sometimes you just luck-out.

If one reset nether after getting all the chests, do the chests regenerate as well as any "limitied" resources such as glowstone and Quartz ore?
Perpetually negative
