hello, posting for my 8 yr. old son. he is not new to mc, just the online multiplayer modes. he watches minecraft videos on youtube all day (pat and jen, blitzwinger, ant venom, squashy and his favorite....Stampy). I can't seem to figure out how to get him involved in online gaming. It seems that he needs friends to play with (invite) but he knows no one who has xbox live. is there anyway to propose an open invitation to potential players or some way to show that he would be interested in visiting someone elses world? sorry if I sound ignorant about mc. like I said, just trying to help my son get involved. thanks in advance.
Thanks Akynth. so am I correct in saying there is no way of searching for friends on the game itself? everything is done thru a forum-based approach? is this the best forum for finding like-minded mc players?
To the best of my knowledge (mind you, I only play 360 in single-player) that is correct. It's not so much forum-based as friends-list-based, but yes, there's no actual way to search for MC players, etc., in the game itself.
And I'm former staff; of course I think this is the best forum. Trying to be as objective as I can, though, yes, this is where I would look for other players.

Not entirely true.
One could conceivably access the Leaderboard menu for MC and randomly send Friend requests to other players. That's how I found about 90% of the people I played with.
But, Akynth's suggestion is probably the best way to find age-appropriate players.

Retired StaffThere are two easy ways:
One is to post in the "Looking For" part of the 360 Multiplayer area to request invitations: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/minecraft-xbox-360-edition/mcx360-multiplayer/mcx360-looking-for
The other would be to read through the "Servers" section looking for one that you like, and ask for an invite from them: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/minecraft-xbox-360-edition/mcx360-multiplayer/mcx360-servers
Two slightly different routes to the same goal. Given his age, I'd suggest looking through Servers for some of the child-friendly servers.

@caiden_beasley hi btw, the fastest way to look for a invite friends is to join minecraft fan page .
