Mojang is taking steps toward cross platform play for Minecraft. It would prove interesting to have a more interlinked community. The W10 and PE editions will be the first to be able to link up, then the XBOX versions later. Odd though that they didn't discuss the PS platforms. What's your take? Good, Bad? Do you think it can be pulled off, or will it be too difficult or glitchy?
There'll have to be separate modes for compatibility, surely. Like a definitive "Compatibility Mode", or rather "Cross-Platform Mode".
Depends on how they do things. PE and Win10, to my knowledge, will be compatible out-of-the-box considering the Win10 edition is essentially just PE ported to Windows 10 as one of the Metro apps. X360 / XBOne is a little different, on one hand MS is wanting to move the Xbox One to use Windows 10, or at least a version of it, which in that case it could be compatible with minimal effort. But, at the same time things work different between a computer, mobile device and a console, so it could also be incompatible. Depends on what happens I guess.
I don't think X360 will be moving to Win10, it's a dead console generation and MS likely wouldn't want to waste money upgrading a console belonging to a now outdated console generation. And that means it's unlikely for compatibility with X360.

My first thought is "impossible".

I'm just a Minecraft player that likes to give my opinion. Nothing special to see here.
